Introduction
Thank you for installing an AirTech™ 9000 Aerated Waste Water Treatment System. The AirTech™ system is an
efficient, lightweight sewerage treatment plant that safely and effectively processes all household sewerage and
wastewater and recycles it as clear, odourless nutrient enriched water to irrigate landscape, shelterbelts, coppice wood lots
or existing planted areas.
For the environmentally conscious this means that the sewerage and wastewater is treated on the property where its
produced then recycled for reuse with little or no environmental impact on the land.
So welcome to the start of a rewarding relationship. It will give you years of faithful and reliable service, backed and
supported by our network of independent fully trained, approved and certified installation and service technicians.

So How Does it Work?
As the proud owner/user of an AirTech™ 9000 Aerated Watewater Sewage Treatment System, it is important that
you read this manual. The AirTech™ 9000 system has been designed to include a simple owner service program carried
out at 6 month intervals (depending on usage).
The annual service requirements of the system are carried out by an independent approved qualified service technician.
Following and understanding the instructions in this manual will ensure long term trouble free performance of the
AirTech™ 9000 system.
System and Process
The unique AirTech™ 9000 multi tank system with the five stage process is as follows:
1. Primary septic chamber (anaerobic digestion)
2. Aeration chamber (aggressive aerobic digestion)
3. Clarification chamber (dormant settling of suspended solids and sludge’s)
4. Sludge return
5. Irrigation pump chamber
The Five Stage Process
1. Primary Septic Chamber: 3300 litres
This is the main chamber where all household sewerage and wastewater enters and
a settling out of up to 95% of solid waste occurs. There is also a reduction in the
Biochemical Oxygen Demand, (BODs) of up to 45%. The Primary Chamber has a
liquid working capacity of 3300 litres which ensures maximum retention time
allowing adequate anaerobic digestion of accumulated solid waste. This tank being
a sealed chamber, guarantees no cross flow contamination between the separate treatment processes within the system.
The outlet of the Primary Chamber is fitted with an industry proven 3mm Bio Filter which minimises suspended solids carry
over. A flow modulation baffle is integral with this filter and manages peak flow levels to limit shock loading of the system.
Home Owners Manual
4./
Home Owners Manual
2. Aeration Chamber: 1500 litres
The partially treated wastewater flows into the Aeration Chamber where aggressive
digesting aerobic bacteria further reduce the suspended solids and sludge. Efficient
oxygen transfer through fine air diffusion maintains high aerobic activity and
population. Additional submerged media fitted in this chamber increases surface area,
thus accommodating greater population of aerobic bacteria.
3. Clarification Chamber: 1200 litres
Wastewater effluent gravity flows into the clarification chamber where in dormant
conditions any remaining suspended solids and sludge’s settle out.
4. Sludge Return
Settled sludge’s are returned to the Primary (1) chamber inlet through an efficient
venturi airlift manifold. This continual flow of enhanced activated sludge ensures a healthy plant in periods of low or zero
flow to the system.
5. Irrigation Pump Chamber
The gravity flow of clean clear odourless water into the irrigation pump chamber is
nutrient enriched and is recycled through a designed irrigation system to enhance
landscape shelter belts, or coppice tree woodlots on your property. This chamber is
protected with an alarm that will activate in the unlikely event of pump failure and has
over 1000 litres of effluent storage as required by the latest Australia New Zealand
standard 1546.3:2001 Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems.
Warranty
All AirTech™ 9000 Aerated Waste Water Treatment Systems are covered by the RX Plastics extended warranty and

Alarm and Monitoring Features
The AirTech™ 9000 is equipped with an electronic alarm system with sensor telecommunications interface, this will alert
you the owner with an audible and visual alarm so you can contact the service agent network in the event of system
malfunction. The alarm has the ability when chosen at installation, to send an error code to an RX Plastics computer
where events are logged, this is not intended for system monitoring or alerting service agents. The componentry is installed
in the house laundry or garage, and has an audio visual face plate showing five sensor alarm lights and a mute button, it
has a battery backup and a self setting function. Please note: normal operation is for the System On (GRN) and
Mains/Fault lights to be illuminated solid.
The Alarm Panel:
1. System On
2. Mains/Fault ( Dual Function-see below)
3. Air
4. Water
5. Fail to Connect (FTC)
1. System On
When the system is commissioned and switched on the System On light illuminates and
stays on continuously indicating system running.
2. Mains/Fault
In normal mode this light illuminates and stays on continuously indicating system is
running. If the power supply to the system fails, the audio alarm will sound and the
mains/fault light will Flash or Blink continuously.
Response
Mute the audio on alarm panel then check power supply to the house. Then check circuit breaker for the
system at the meter board then find the Micron Box and find the Black or Red RESET button (usually
RH side). Depress this twice, and wait for lights on alarm panel to settle. Mains/fault light should remain
solid along with the System On green light.

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONGUIDELINES FOR THE USE OF YOUR
AIR TECH™ 9000 SYSTEM
Your home has a modern waste water treatment plant. This plant treats your household waste water to a high quality and requires BACTERIA, (‘BUGS’) to break down the waste matter. Incorrect products going down your drains will kill the ‘bugs’,
and the system will not operate correctly.
IF YOU CAN’T EAT IT, DON’T FLUSH IT !• NO BLEACHES OR CHLORINE (i.e. Napisan – Bleach – Janola)
These products are designed to kill bugs and will kill off the bacteria (‘bugs’) in the tank causing smells and constant blocking of the Bio (internal) filter. You can use these products if used in a bucket and tip on the lawn or safe place, not down your drain.
• NO FATS OR OILS DOWN DRAINS
Fats and oils may block the tank filters and kill the bacteria (‘bugs’) in the tank
• NO TEA LEAVES OR COFFEE GROUNDS DOWN DRAINS
These may block the filters in the tank and the external filter
• NO WASHING PAINT BRUSHES OR DISPOSING OF PAINTS DOWN DRAINS These products will not only kill bacteria (‘bugs’) in the tank, but the residue is very difficult and costly to remove.
• NO DISPOSABLE NAPPIES, SANITARY NAPKINS, TAMPONS OR CONDOMS
These products do not break down and cause a mass build up in the tank, and can cause blockages that can be costly to clean.
• DO NOT HAVE A WASTE DISPOSAL UNIT This waste takes a long time to break down and the system will require frequent emptying which is very costly.
• DO NOT TURN THE POWER OFF TO THE SEPTIC TANK (unless you are rinsing your external filter)
The bacteria will die and the system will smell
• USE LOW SUDSING LAUNDRY POWDER/LIQUID & NON CAUSTIC DISH WASHING POWDER (see suitable products section page 12 )

FURTHER HELPFUL CLEANING HINTS FOR YOURMODERN WASTE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
There is naturally occurring bacteria living in your waste water treatment system which is essential to break down the waste.
Some cleaning products will kill these bacteria.
When purchasing products such as cleaners, detergents and toilet paper check the label to see if the product is either
biodegradable or safe to use in septic tanks. Make sure it is not bio cal i.e. made to kill bacteria, or high in chlorine,
phospherous or ammonia. If it says ‘Kills Germs’ or ‘antibacterial’ these products should not be used.
DO NOT use strong caustic, acids or chemical detergents, hospital strength cleaners, bleach or Napisan as these contain
disinfectants harmful to the natural biological process. If you need to, use these products in a bucket and dispose of them
outside. Do not put down your drains.
AVOID disposing of newspapers’, sanitary napkins, cotton buds, condoms and tampons into the system.
AVOID the use of garbage disposal units.
Bathroom
To clean the bath, basin and shower, Ajax or similar product may be used if the plug is in, and the bulk of the cleaning
material is wiped out with towels which are later disposed of in the bin. Use sparingly.
Body Cleansing Products
Again, verify that what you are purchasing is biodegradable. Most hand soaps, shampoos and conditioners are not harmful
to bacteria in the quantities that would normally be introduced to an aerated wastewater treatment system.
Toilets
Self-flushing products which fit in the toilet should not be used. Pine-O-Clean or toilet duck must only be used in small
quantities or avoided. Do not use the disposable toilet cleaning brushes, or any toilet bowl cleansers (eg: toilet bowl, toilet
freshener dispensers
Septic Systems
13./
Laundry
A large portion of water flow through your system is via the laundry so it is important to use biodegradable products. Low
sudsing powder or washing liquids are strongly recommended.
Recommended Do Not Use
Cold Power Liquid and Concentrate Fab
Amway SA8 Reflect
New Generation Cold Water Surf
Eco Store Persil
Dynamo Charge
Baby Products
All nappy products are anti bacterial and should not be used. If nappies must be soaked, make sure the wash water does
not enter the system (i.e: empty these buckets of water onto the lawn)
With good water quality you can reduce the recommended amount of detergent. Try to spread your wash loads over the
week. DO NOT use bleach unless the water can be disposed of without entering the waste water system.
Kitchen
Use biodegradable products such as Sunlight liquid, Sunlight bar or Sun Advance. For dishwashers, Finish Dishwashing
Powder (non caustic) or Sun Advance is recommended. If possible, use detergents that are phosphate free such as Down to
Earth, as these kinds of products are less harmful to the environment. With any detergent either in the laundry or kitchen,
use the manufacturers recommended dosage levels.
• CONSERVE WATER, DON’T LEAVE TAPS RUNNING
• AVOID WASHING CLOTHES AND RUNNING THE SHOWER/BATH ALL AT THE SAME TIME
