Saint Patrick’s In Action (a.k.a. SPIN) October 2017– June 2018 “Service on Sundays” : 10/29, 11/19, 12/17, 1/28, 2/25, 3/18, 4/8, 5/6, 6/3

SPin Action is our Parish Mission open to everyone that is called to serve the local needy. It consists of both youth and adults that help people grow in their commitment to service using the

gifts that each one of us has received from God. Our mission is to provide St. Patrick’s community with the opportunity to serve those in need and to hear the ways God has called us to live out the Gospel. Through action we seek to help the elderly, the poor, the weak, the lonely, the disabled, and those in our parish who need assistance.

If you would like to be a part of this ministry or would just like more information please contact Eileen Mitchell at [email protected] or call 774-641-3537.

Our Lady of the Valley Regional School would like to thank everyone who helped make the Catholic Schools Appeal a success: the parishioners who contributed so generously, the parents who helped organize the event, the students who showed their pride in their school by wearing their uniforms, the students who greeted everyone as they entered church, and the students who spoke at various Masses. Such a collaborative effort by so many is deeply appreciated by the OLV community.

The ‘Greeter Ministry’ is celebrating its 2nd year anniversary at St. Patrick’s Parish. Our mission each weekend is to simply “welcome” parishioners

into our weekend masses with a ‘warm greeting’ and leaving mass with a ‘have a great week’. If you are interested in ‘making a difference – being

the face of Jesus’ prayerfully consider joining the “Greeter Ministry”. Please contact: Fred Beauregard – [email protected].

Invitations were sent out last week for the November 1st Senior Fall Luncheon that will follow the noontime Mass. The luncheon will be in the Parish Center.

Air Conditioning Fund Close to Reaching its Goal!

Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to update you on our efforts to raise the funds for the air conditioning /

heating system at St. Patrick’s Church. As you know the system in hot summer days will help us to create a

comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment during worship on Sundays, at funerals and weddings. Hot and humid

weather can be oppressive and distractive. Second of all, the system will also support our existing heating system

particularly in the fall and the spring months. Lastly, creating a climate control environment will help us to prevent paint

from deteriorating. Having completing the renovation of the interior of the church this is very importing to us as well.

The fundraiser has been very successful so far and the generosity of many parishioners and support of this project has

been nothing but amazing. Over 127 parishioners contributed $112,300.00 to this project. Our original goal was set at

$120,000.00. Our recent review of the project, however, revealed that our electrical system has to be upgraded to a

greater extent than was initially anticipated and more electrical power is needed to accommodate the project.

The electrical system needs to be changed from one-phase panel to three-phase panel, which will benefit our church

building in and of itself. As you can imagine National Grid has to be involved in this project in addition to our

electrician.

The breakdown of the project and the additional cost amounts to $23,890.00 more than the original estimate of

$120,000.00. Below is the breakdown of the cost:

The installation of the AC/H system: $111,050.00

Connecting the AC/H system to electrical panel: $9,758.00

National Grid Upgrade: $7,809.07

Installation of the three-phase panel: $15,273.74

Total cost: $143,890.81

As you can see we need to raise $31,590.81 to start the project. Together with the Finance Committee and the Building

Committee I am committed to this project and as soon as we secure the funds we will begin the project. Our hope is to

start and finish the project either before Christmas if possible or before spring of 2018. The installation of the system

should take about a month.

Again, I wish to thank everyone who has contributed to this project. We are very close at this time to reaching our goal,

and if you had not yet had a chance to make a contribution, I invite you to prayerfully consider supporting this effort in

the next couple of weeks.

If you have any questions regarding the project, feel free to contact me personally, and I would be more than happy to

talk to you.

God’s peace and blessing to all of you.

With gratitude of the gift of our community,

Fr. Tomasz
