Aim: What factors affect the expression of the gene?
The environment can play a significant role in the production of phenotypes
Talk to your partner and make a list of environmental factors that may affect the
expression of a gene (allele)
temperature caused the different phenotypes.

Male Pattern Baldness is hereditary, you get it from your mother! The explanation is genetic and
linked to your mother's X-Chromosome. Male-pattern baldness, which is usually inherited
and also affects women, is caused by oversensitive
hair follicles. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT),
produced by the male hormone testosterone, causes the follicles to
shrink and eventually stop functioning.
Twin Studies
What is the genetic make up of identical twins?
What have we found out about the expression of the gene when twins are separated?
