Introduction
The future of the Calvin congregation has been a
topic of discussion within the church for the last ten
years as the congregation has faced declining
membership and revenue.
The retirement of Rev. Wilson provided the
opportunity to consider the future of the
congregation.
• On September 8, 2015, an Intentional Interim
Minister, Rev. Dr. Peter Bartlett, was appointed for
one year to lead this review with a Transition Team
appointed by the Official Board.
• On February 7, 2016, the Congregation accepted a
Recommendation to:
1. Reorganize the church governance structure;
2. Refocus the congregation on our revised Vision
and Mission; and
3. Begin developing a Plan for the future.
• On April 10, 2016, a presentation and round table
discussion was held with the congregation to
discuss planning progress and receive feedback.
• On April 12, 2016 Rev Dr. Bartlett’s appointment
was extended until July 31, 2017, to provide
ministry continuity while Calvin implements a
plan.
• On May 3, 2016, a presentation and discussion
was held with the Official Board to discuss
planning progress and receive feedback.
• On June 5, 2016, the Congregation accepted
additional recommendations outlined within the
"Transition Planning Support Document".
• On June 5, 2016, the Congregation accepted
additional recommendations for "Action" as outlined
within the "Transition Planning Support Document,"
that:
1. a. The New governance structure be finalized
and that the new governance roles and
responsibilities be transitioned from the
current Official Board structure.
b. Current Co-Chairs of the Official Board
become the Co-Chairs of the proposed new
governance model, until the 2017 Annual
Congregational Meeting.

1. c. The Official Board appoint the Growth,
Nurture, Serve, and Sustainment Team Leaders
from within the current Board, into the new
governance structure, to serve until the 2017
Annual Congregational Meeting.
d. The Transition Team prepare elected
leaders for their roles within the proposed new
governance model.
2. The proposed new governance model be
forwarded to Upper Valley Presbytery for
approval.
3. Calvin continues to explore and undertake
partnerships with Wesley United Church that
support our Vision and Mission.
4. Calvin continues to explore and undertake
partnerships with Holy Trinity Anglican Church
that support our Vision and Mission.
5. Calvin continues Garden Project With
Community Partners.
6. Calvin continues to pursue Partnerships
opportunities with the City of Pembroke that
support our Vision and Mission.
