REGULATIONS

GENERAL

1. All persons admitted to the Show shall be subject to the Rules of the Association and to order of the Committee. All persons attend the show at their own risk.

2. The Committee will not under any circumstances hold themselves responsible for loss, damage, or mis-delivery of stock or other article or exhibit at the Show.

3. Machinery Exhibitors are reminded that compliance with the terms of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 2016 is the responsibility of the exhibitor and that the Association hereby states that it will accept no responsibility in any claim from any person resulting from non-compliance with the Act.

4. No horse floats or transport trucks may be parked on the main Showground. All stock trucks are to enter by the Lawcocks Road entrance. The parking of all vehicles will be at the discretion of Show Officials. Any stock truck or float illegally parked must be moved on request. Failure to comply with such requests by Show Officials will result in all persons and stock associated with the vehicle being eliminated from the Show.

5. All members two or more years in arrears are barred from privileges.

NB. Any exhibitor whose entries are not ready for judging at the specified time may be fined $1.00 for each such entry at the discretion of the Committee.

7. No exhibit shall be removed from the

Showground before 4.00pm, without a permit from the Association member in charge of the Section. Prize winners in horse and cattle sections are required to be paraded in the Grand Parade. Penalty, $2.00

8. Entry Fees are shown at the beginning of each Section. Free Passes will be given to those exhibitors whose Fees exceed $5.00. Computer generated receipts will be sent to all exhibitors. Please check receipts carefully as alterations cannot be made on the Show Day. If a late entry is accepted by the Head of Section, a 50% increase in the entry fee may apply.

9. No Fees will be refunded unless an appropriate Veterinary or Medical Certificate is provided and will only be made at the discretion of the Show Committee, with a deduction of $20.00 for administration expenses.

10. All entries in Handcraft, Home Produce, Cookery, Home Spun and Art Sections must be the bona-fide work of the exhibitor. No exhibit may be shown more than twice at the show and first prize winning entries may not be shown again.

11. At the time of entry, exhibitors must state as accurately as possible the date of birth of stock in classes where age is specified.

12. Any exhibitor infringing any of these regulations or not complying with instructions from the Committee shall be subject to the ruling of the

Protest Committee. The Committee’s decision will be final. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.

13. If a competitor’s age is required it is deemed to be the age on Show Day. The Committee reserves the right to sight a copy of a birth certificate.

14. The Show District is south of Amberley to the boundary between the Hurunui District and The Waimakariri District and North to include the Waipara, Greta Valley and Omihi School Districts. Riders and exhibitors must have lived in the District for at least three months prior to the closing date for entries.

STOCK

15. Attendants in charge of stock are admitted free

on production of a pass and are subject to the orders of stewards.

16. In all entries of Stud stock the Breeder’s name, where known, must be stated (if omitted, “breeder unknown” will be inserted). The names of Sire and Dam, if known, sex and colour, must be stated. In Sheep and Cattle sections, Flock Book and or Stud Book Numbers must be quoted.

17. The pedigree of all Led Horses must be held by the exhibitor at the time of entry and must be available for inspection on Show Day.

18. Original entries in Horse and Pony classes may be substituted at the discretion of the Heads of the Horse and Pony Section and the Secretary.

19. All horses and ponies whose height is specified must be measured by an official approved by the Association. Exhibitors must produce a pass signed by such an official before entering the judging ring. Royal Agricultural Society, Life and Annual Height certificates will also be accepted.

20. The owner of the Dam at the time of mating is deemed the Breeder.

21. All stock on parade must be attended and be at the direction of the Parade Stewards. Exhibitors

failing to parade stock will forfeit their prize money.

22. All dogs must be chained up when not working. 23. All stock exhibited (horses excepted) must have

been the bona-fide property of the exhibitor for three months prior to the Show.

24. All horses and cattle must be haltered and led. Cattle must not be removed from their allotted stands except by permission of the Class Stewards. One person must then be in attendance with each animal.

25. In the Horse and Pony sections a Novice is an animal which has not won more than the stated number of first prizes at the time of the Show. Please note that it is the animal that is considered not a combination of Horse/Pony and rider. For other regulations governing Stock, see under heading of each Section.

26. Random testing for forbidden substances may be carried out under the rules of the R.A.S.

prizes in a particular class for which prizes are awarded. Ties to count one win each. In the event of a tie for a point’s prize the exhibitor who takes most Championship honours (or most first prizes in the event of the championship) shall take precedence. In the event of a points tie in FEI events the most points obtained in open classes will determine award of prizes.

PROTESTS

29. All protests must be in writing and lodged with the Secretary either before or after the judges have proceeded with their duties. Any exhibitor entering a protest must deposit $30.00 which will be forfeit if the protest is not sustained. If the protest be lodged before the judges proceed to their duties the onus of proof will be with the party protesting. NO PROTEST WILL BE RECEIVED LATER THAN 1 HOUR AFTER THE PRIZE TICKETS ARE AFFIXED. The Protest Committee will decide all protests as soon as practicable and there shall be no appeal of their decision. No protest will be received that in any way traverses the decisions of the judges.

30. All points not provided for must be settled by the Protest Committee whose decision is final.

31. PLEASE NOTE THAT SPONSORS AND PRIZE MONEY ARE CORRECT AT TIME OF PRINTING, BUT MAY BE CHANGED DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL.

Horses & Ponies

Conditions:

1. Back Numbers ($2 each) are to be paid for with entry fees. One Back Number is required for each Horse and Rider Combination. The $2 will be refunded on return of the Back Number after your event on Show Day. If you have your own numbers please indicate this on the Entry Form. No deposit is required for personal Back Numbers. 2. All exhibitors are required to pay $3 each with entry fees as contribution to the Judges Travel Fund. This fund is used to give all horse and pony judges a small token of appreciation. 3. Please note that parking is at a premium, so if you are asked to move please do so otherwise you may be disqualified from competition. 4. Trailers will be available for animal waste only - rubbish bins will be there for other waste. 5. A limited number of yards are available at $15.00 per yard. Please indicate that you require a yard on your entry form. 6. Please note that All prize winners are required to be present for the Grand Parade. There will be a separate Grand Parade in the Robin Needham ring after completion of the Lead and In Hand Classes. 7. All Conformation Classes will be judged as follows: Conformation 60% and Manners 40%. 8. AGE OF RIDERS & HANDLERS Rider/Handler's age and eligibility is determined as per the 1 August i.e. Riders/handlers who are of age for any division/section on the 1 August complete the show year/ season in that division/section.

Lead Rein classes are restricted to riders under eight (8) years of age with a minimum age of four (4) years, who are not competing in any other sections at any A&P Show/Event. To be led by an attendant fourteen (14) years of age or over. First Ridden classes are restricted to riders under ten (10) years of age, who are not competing in any other sections at any A&P Show/Event. Novice pony exhibits (except Novice Pony Stallions) may be ridden by a rider of any age. Novice pony stallions must be led or ridden by a rider fourteen (14) years and over. Open pony exhibits (also see CDE 12 h) must be ridden by riders under seventeen (17) years of age. All Group A,B C, and D riders must be under 17 years of age. Open pony stallions must be ridden by a rider fourteen (14), or fifteen (15), or sixteen (16) years of age, led handlers must be fourteen (14) years and over. Riders in horse rings (exhibits over 148cm) must be twelve (12) years and over. Stallions over 148cm must be led or ridden by a rider seventeen (17) years of age or older. 9. HATS and SAFETY HELMETS. All riders, including harness drivers, competing at RAS affiliated A&P Shows/Events must wear protective headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area collecting rings or anywhere else within a Showgrounds. Hats/helmets must conform with one of the current approved safety standards and have a "red tag". These standards may be subject to change but the latest list can be found at http://www.ras.org.nz – equestrian. RAS will advise any changes via their website and Face 10. Consideration cannot be given to riders of horses or ponies where classes of different groups

coincide. 11. Entries displaying disruptive behaviour on the grounds may be asked by a Committee member to leave the grounds. 12 All stallions and colts (with the exception of Miniature horses and foals) must be shown in a bit.) A Steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion/colt's owner/exhibitor/competitor. It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear two (2) official "S" identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle, at all Shows/Events at all times. The rider/handler must also wear two RAS official (2) armbands (one on each arm) when in the ring. 'S' badges to be purchased from RAS Head Office or ESNZ; armbands from RAS Head Office. Handlers and Riders of stallions/colts must wear an approved Hi Viz vest at Shows/Events when outside the showing ring. Vests can be purchased from RAS Head Office. 13. A NOVICE is a horse or pony which has not won 6 firsts in Conformation Classes at any A & P Show (Note that ladies' and gentlemen's hack classes count as Open Conformation classes and must be counted) A novice in Paced and Mannered classes is a horse or pony which has not won 6 firsts in Paced and Mannered classes at any A & P Show. Novices are to be shown in simple snaffle bits. 14. In the Unity Competition, consideration will be given to the manners of the pony, to the care and fitting of tack and the turnout of both pony and rider. Simple snaffle bits only are to be used. 15. In all classes where height or grading of the horse or rider, or the age of the rider is specified, appropriate certificates must be carried. Failure to carry certificates will result in elimination. (Note

that Performance Certificates are available from the Royal Agricultural Society. The RAS collates all A & P Show results to enable Secretaries to keep a record of all novice wins). Measuring on the day is available to residents of the Show District as detailed in Regulation 14 (South of Amberley to the boundary between the Hurunui District and the Waimakariri District and North to include the Waipara, Greta Valley and Omihi School Districts.) Riders and exhibitors must have lived in the district for at least 3 months prior to the closing date for entries. 16. Forbidden Substance Testing: the use of stimulants, tranquilisers, or any substance which affects the performance of horse or pony is forbidden. Competitors are advised that Clean Sport Testing may be carried out during the Show. Testing all animals will be at the owner's risk and will be carried out under Clean Sport (CS) Rules in the RAS Equestrian Rulebook. Your signature on the entry form and /or participation in competition denotes acceptance of these conditions (REF CS). 17. The judging of Champion and Reserve Champion in all horse sections will be as follows. The winners of conformation classes will be paraded for the judge. Following the judging of the Champion, the second placed entry in the class won by the Champion will to be paraded and judged beside the remaining winners for Reserve Champion. Groups A & B will be judged in the same ring by the same judge, one after the other. These Groups are not HOY Qualifiers. A Parade of Winners will be held in the Robin Needham Ring at approximately 10.45 am, before the Clydesdales are judged. Cups and Sponsors:

All riders, including harness drivers, competing at R.A.S.

affiliated A. &P. Shows/Events must wear protective

headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the

shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn

with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in

the arena or ring, the practice area collecting rings or

anywhere else within a Showground. Hats/helmets must

conform with one of the current approved safety standards

and must be "red tagged". These standards may be subject

THE RAVENSDOWN CHAMPION EWE NOT OVER 18 MONTHS will be judged in the sheep ring at 12.00 am. The winners of all "Ewe not over 18 months" Classes will parade, followed by the Commercial Export Lamb Sire Class. Prize money: Prizes sponsored by Ravensdown.

ALL BREEDS

Conditions:

1. No exhibit entered in Sheep Classes will be allowed on the grounds if suffering from FOOTROT or LICE.

2. All sheep entered in the Breed Classes must be entered in a recognized Flock Book. Flock Book numbers must be quoted on the entry form.

3. Brucella Ovis: All rams entered will be tested free or be from an accredited free flock. Entrants must produce a certificate of testing or an accredited certificate to this effect when called upon to do so by the official appointed by the Association.

4. Sheep in the Breeding Classes must be unshorn, except for those entered in the shorn classes. Sheep in shorn classes must be machine shorn fairly and closely to the skin.

5. Judges will be instructed not to award prizes to sheep which they consider unfairly shorn or excessively trimmed, oiled or coloured. Judges will also disqualify sheep on which any adhesive substance, string or other material has been used for the purpose of concealing or altering any defect in the fleece or form of the sheep.

6. Exhibitors are reminded that the use of bloom dip or artificial colouring is now covered by Government regulation. Natural condition means:

(i) That the wool has not been trimmed in any way except crutching or dagging.

(ii) That there has not been any colouring, oiling or locking other than normal dipping.

(iii) That the sheep have not been rugged or covered in any way, or at any time except for housing in the 48 hours prior to judging.

For a single lamb born after 1st July 2019.

Maximum live weight to be 45 kg and carcass weight to be between 16 kg to 23 kg.

The Dog Show will take place on the Terrace overlooking the Domain at the north end of the grounds. Cars may be parked in the shade under the trees.

The Show is in two parts. The ring starts with Fancy Dress followed by the type classes that judges the dogs, and then the handling classes that judges the way the participants handle their dogs. The handling classes include obstacles for the dogs to complete.

School Classes

There is no entry fee and no prize money is awarded.

General Conditions:

1. All entries are to be handled by the Kowai Primary Schools Assn in liaison with representatives of the Amberley A. & P. Association.

2. All exhibitors must be of primary school age.

3. All entries in the School classes are to be child's own effort and done at school. Entries in Amateur Construction, Cookery and Handcraft classes are in the main schedule and are for items made at home.

4. No prior notification of entries is required.

5. All entries in the Art & Craft Sections are to be brought to the Amberley Pavilion between 4:30 pm on and 5.30 pm on Thursday prior to the Show. (31 October 2019)

6. All entries in the Handwriting & Decorated Original Poem Sections must be brought to Amberley School no later than 4.30 pm on the Thursday four weeks prior to the show (26th September).

7. Only one entry will be accepted per exhibitor per class, with a maximum of two art entries per exhibitor. The two entries together with the frames will equal no more than

10. It is the school's responsibility to claim their own school's exhibits on Show day, Saturday afternoon after 4 pm. School staff are expected to take down all the wall exhibits after 4 pm on Show Day.

11. Prize tickets only will be awarded.

12. Schools wishing to enter group displays may do so but, there must be only one entry per classroom and a display size up to 900 mm x 1200 mm.

Pre-School

There is no entry fee and no prize money is awarded.

General conditions are the same as those at the start of the Junior Section except replace "school" with "pre-school".
