Hi all!

It’s my delight and privilege to welcome you to this inaugural edition of our AGI Connect eZine. We hope you enjoy it and

more importantly we hope that you come to connect with the AGI family in a deeper way.

In life, meaningful connection is vitally important. We see the model of connection in relationships: Husband and wife, Parent and child, Neighbour and neighbour. And we see the model of connection in various roles: Teacher and student, Coach and athlete, Manager and staff etc. etc. In fact, without proper connection, a name or a title is useless. The title of Pastor means nothing without genuine connection with people. So it is with us as believers. Without the proper connection to Christ our titles as Christians is not valid or sincere.vAssemblies of God Ireland exists for meaningful connection. We long to connect people with God; connecting the lost to a saviour and the broken to a healer. We also seek to connect pastors to pastors, leaders to leaders, churches to churches and churches to a National movement.

Our movement is all about connection. Through SALT, the AGI seeks to connect emerging and potential leaders with great training and with experienced pastors and leaders. Through AGI NETWORK, we seek to connect leaders and churches with each other, in their respective regions. At PULSE, we connect our young people with fellow youth from across the whole island. Watching them encounter God is

a sight to behold! With ENGAGE and DREAM, we gather as a tribe, connecting in great fellowship, loving encouragement and inspiring teaching. All of this and our seniorLEAD weekend, underline the heart of connection, which this movement has.

Time to Connect.God bless you as you labour for the Lord, as you endeavour to advance Gods kingdom through your life and Church and God bless you as you champion connection in all your spheres of influence. We thank God for you.

Enjoy the eMag,Love in Christ.

Hi  Daniel Malone here, I’d love to tell you about Pulse. Throughout my life,

when I have been to the hospital no matter what the issue, my pulse was always the first thing that was checked. The pulse is of fundamental importance because it represents the well being of your heart.

PULSE reflects the  heartbeat of local youth groups all over Ireland who are passionate about Jesus. We exist simply to point teenagers to Jesus and to connect and empower local youth groups all over the country.

PULSE 15 in July was a week to remember with over 300 young people from all over Ireland. Lives were changed, teenagers were released into their God given destiny and the local church was empowered.

MINI PULSEDATE: 24TH OCTOBER,TIME: 7PM - 9:30PMVENUE: DISTRICT 8, 135 - 138 FRANCIS ST, DUBLIN 8.

Some things I’ve learnt in my life.

Relationships are Important! Friendship is the paved highway the holy spirit will most often travel on. As a teenager, you are the most equipped person to reach your friends for Jesus, nobody else!

Choices Matter! Whatever you give your time to, you give your life to. Small decisions have lasting impact.

Have FUN! As young Christians, life doesn’t have to be boring. Sometimes we can view life as a set of rules. What God values He also protects. If there are somethings He wants to keep you from, it’s because He loves you, He wants to protect you and Hve’s given you real freedom to enjoy LIFE!

Lead

Recently while doing my daily devotion time with the Lord I was reading in the book of Proverbs and something that I had read before came to life in a new way. As I begun to read and re-read the verse God illuminated the words on the page in such a way that

brought a fresh perspective of a revelatory nature.

The verse is found in Proverbs 27:28 and it says;

The one who guards a fig tree will eat its fruit, and whoever protects their master will be honoured.“ “

““

So what does this have to do with that verse in Proverbs you may ask? Well the point I want to make is simply this:

When we protect and serve those who lead us; we get to eat the fruit of what they carry.

Our primary role when serving someone else is to use all our best talents, gifts and abilities to help them achieve their purpose and the vision that God has called them to run with. When we commit ourselves to protecting our leaders and serving them in this way - then not only will they succeed in all their initiates, but such an attitude secures blessing and success for us in our ministries.

Simply put as those who lead and are being led we should:

…treat others like we ourselves would like to be treated

So let me give you a couple of potential applications for what this kind of dynamic may look like in real life:

1. OwnershipServing a leader in our lives and serving my leader are two vastly different things. We protect that which we feel belongs to us or we belong to. The first step is to see that God has given us our leaders as gifts and we are to be ‘owned’ (belong to) them and see that they belong to us.

2. ProtectiveAlthough we never dust stuff under the carpet in the church or turn a blind eye to immoral or illegal behaviour, still there is tremendous value in seeing ourselves as protectors to our leaders. We are called to steward their favour by stewarding their reputation before the world and before each other. Let be more attentive to how we talk about our leaders and the image we construct of them to others.

3. SupportiveWhen our leader wins - we win… every time. So lets make it our priority not simply to gain from them; but to give our very best to them trying to be as much of a benefit and supportive wherever possible in the church. Always recognising the needs of our leaders and always intentional about how we can serve.

So lets pray more for our leaders and believe for God’s very best best for their lives. And lets commit ourselves to protect the tree which provides the shade we enjoy and steward well the gifts God has given His church and remember: If we abuse the tree we will lose the fruit.

Lets be the best leaders we can be; but let us also be the best followers we can be and lets see the church flourish!

Jamie CorcoranLead Pastor,

The context here is referring to the role we all play in life and ministry as those who are primarily under leadership and those who are leading. You see there are many dimensions to the complex relationships we share with those who lead us and indeed with those we lead. And all of us regardless of what level we led at still are people under leadership. This is God’s model and God’s plan for those who lead; to be servants to those we lead and to be great followers of those who lead us.

We all should lead and be led as we progress in ministry.

An fantastic example of this is found in Jesus’ encounter with the Roman centurion in Luke 7. Basically the Roman commander’s slave was ill and he recognised the authority of Jesus and pleaded with Him to come and heal his slave. However, something significant happens in v.7-8 where he says:

7 But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me.

In other words - the Roman soldier recognised that authority is always delegated and validated by those we serve. He as a man of great authority was in fact ‘under authority’ at the same time. Due to the centurion’s faith based on his understanding of Jesus’s power and the his own displacement of leadership; Jesus would go on to commend his faith as being both rare and a great example for us all.

After four years in the buying and one year in the redesigning, Cornerstone City Church in Derry/Londonderry opened Phase One - the Hub - in their new building on 17 June 2015.

With a mission that is simply ‘to bring love to life’ Cornerstone City Church’s efforts will have taken a great leap forward as their new offices offer plenty of creative space for earth;y prayers to rise and heavenly genius to fall.

Situated along a main arterial route into the city centre and along a main feeder road to many provincial towns, the building on Duke Street is highly visible from many parts of the city. Fronting the River Foyle and adjacent to the city’s railway station and Peace Bridge the people of Cornerstone are excited about the future God has for their city. The church believes it belongs to the city and at it’s heart seeks to serve the city in Christ’s name.
