Media Club. . .

Rivers Newspaper

My name is Sarah and I am a Year 5 teacher. Before becoming a

teacher, I worked as a journalist in New Zealand for four years.

Through this job I learned valuable skills such as communicating

with others, expressing ideas and opinions, the art of photography

and the skill of receiving information and expressing it in a number

of different forms. These are all valuable skills for children to learn

too!

By joining the media club children will enjoy fun, exciting

activities while also learning practical journalism, research,

interviewing and writing skills… all this while working on a

final project - a Rivers Newspaper!

discovered in Croatia in 2014

dating back 6500 years ago.

That means people have

been baking for at least 8500

years! Baking has seen a

recent increase in popularity

due to popular tv

programmes.

We will meet once every month to bake something sweet or savoury. Students will learn

basic cooking skills and to follow a recipe. We will also discuss the science of baking and the

history of the recipe! Students will take some of their creations home to share with their

family.
