Jason Yosifov (USA) MIB student

What made you decide to study at UniSA?

UniSA is one of the few universities that offer a Master of International Business program. I was living in Korea at the time and contacted the Program Director, You-il Lee, for advice, and he made me feel comfortable, as the degree is very much focused on the Asia-Pacific region. This made it a better program than those offered by other universities. The cheaper cost of living in Adelaide was also a factor.

How does UniSA differ from other universities you have attended?

I’ve noticed that the academics at UniSA are heavily involved in research. They use real life examples in the classroom, based on their research or experience within industry, so you can always relate what you’ve learnt back to those situations. The academics are also very approachable and really willing to help all the students in the class, especially the international students. There are also very few American students here. I like that because it’s given me the opportunity to learn more, not just about Australian culture, but also from students from other cultures within my classes.

What extra experiences are available to you as a UniSA student?

Because of my management experience, I’ve been able to replace some of my International Business electives with MBA electives. In fact, my Program Director has allowed me to participate in a ‘Business in China’ study tour in Shanghai and Beijing. This includes presentations from guest speakers, visits to local business and government, and a focus on the political and cultural aspects of China. There are also opportunities for me to go on exchange and to participate in an industry placement. I really appreci-ate all of these opportunities because they will give me a significant advantage over students from other universities when I graduate and look for work here in Australia.

The University of South Australia is one of the fastest growing and most innovative universities in Australia. With more than a third of its 36,000 students coming from more than 70 countries, UniSA is a modern and progressive institution with a strong and growing research profile.

Over 30 years of postgraduate business education UniSA’s International Graduate School of Business (IGSB), home of the Master of International Business program, has been teaching business leaders since the 1980s. Since then, the IGSB has grown from strength to strength, expanding its scope and rigour to serve the strong market need for postgraduate management education.

Our focus on quality was acknowledged with the IGSB’s MBA program continuing to be ranked among the top 10 in Australia by the Australian Financial Review’s BOSS Magazine Alumni survey, and rated four years in a row with five stars, by the Graduate Management Association of Australia in The Good Universities Guide.

Quality and global recognitionThe Division of Business is accredited by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the most prestigious international accreditation for business schools. Our latest

re-accreditation took place in late 2010. Notably, the Division was the first business school in Australia to attain accreditation for both our onshore and offshore operations.

The Division is one of only eight Australian business schools accredited by EQUIS. Worldwide, there are 131 EQUIS-accredited business schools across 38 countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
