Advance noce: Low-flying aircra Have you heard of the Tellus survey? It may be relevant to you. What? An aircra will fly at a low level of 60m over rural areas collecng geological informaon. The aircra will rise to 240m over urban areas. You may see the plane pass at 240m on its way to survey areas. The white, twin propeller plane has a red tail, stripe, black and registraon number C-GSGF. The sound of the plane is similar to that of a passing lorry, however it may startle sensive animals, such as horses. Where? Across eastern Waterford, parts of southern Tipperary, Kilkenny and western Wexford. The plane will turn over neighbouring areas. Why? The work is part of the Tellus survey which is collecng geochemical and geophysical informaon on our rocks, soil and water. The data will be freely available to all. The informaon will be used by the Geological Survey to make new geological maps, supporng environmental management, agriculture and natural resources assessment. When? Due to commence in April, the survey aircra will fly during spring 2016. Please note, the flight schedule is weather-dependent and is subject to change. Please contact us for up-to-date flight plans. www.tellus.ie Who? The survey is being carried out by the Geological Survey of Ireland using Sander Geophysics Ltd. Réamhógra: Eitleáin ag eilt go hísealAr chuala tú trácht ar shuirbhéireacht Tellus?B’éidir go mbeidh baint aici leatsa.Cén rud? Beidh eitleán ag eilt ag leibhéal íseal 60m os cionn ceantair thuaithe agus é ag bailiú faisnéis gheolaíochta. Éireoidh an t-eitleán go 240m os cionn ceantair uirbeacha. B'éidir go bhfeicfidh tú an t-eitleán ag dul thar bráid ag 240m agus é ar an tslí go d ceantair ina bhfuil an tsuirbhéireacht ar siúl. Tá eireaball dearg agus stríoc dhúghorm ar an eitleán bán a bhfuil dhá lián air. Is é C-GSGF an chláruimhir. Tá fuaim an eitleáin cosúil le fuaim leoraí a bheadh ag dul thar bráid, ach d'éadfadh sé cur isteach ar ainmhithe íogaire, capaill go háirithe.

Cén áit?Ar fud Phort Láirge Thoir, codanna de Thiobraid Árann Theas, Cill Chainnigh agus Loch Garman Thiar. Casfaidh an t-eitleán os cionn ceantair atá gar dóibh sin.

Cén fáth?Is cuid den tsuirbhéireacht Tellus í an obair. Sa tsuirbhéireacht sin táthar ag bailiú faisnéis gheoiceimiceach agus gheoifisiceach ar na carraigeacha, ar an ithir agus ar an uisce. Beidh na sonraí ar fáil do chách gan bac ar bith. Bainfidh an tSuirbhéireacht Gheolaíochta leas as an bhfaisnéis chun léarscáileanna nua geolaíocha a dhéanamh, rud a thacóidh le bainisocht comhshaoil, leis an talmhaíocht agus le measúnú ar acmhainní nádúrtha.

Cén uair?Le tosú i mí Aibreáin, beidh eitleán na suirbhéireachta ag eilt i gcaitheamh earrach 2016. Tabhair faoi deara, le do thoil, go bhfuil sceideal na n-eil ag brath ar an aimsir agus go bhféadfadh sé athrú. Téigh i dteagmháil linn, le do thoil, chun pleananna atá cothrom le dáta a áil maidir le heil. www.tellus.ie

Cén dream?Tá an tsuirbhéireacht á maoiniú ag an Roinn Cumarsáide, Fuinnimh agus Acmhainní Nádúrtha agus ag Unicorn Mineral Resources.
