We operate a staggered entry to early years to allow the staff to organise opportunities to spend a considerable amount of time with individuals and small groups of children. Initially parents are encouraged to stay with their children and help them settle in and join in with classroom activities. Transfer to Reception Induction Programme: A parents meeting is held in the Summer Term before transfer when details of the curriculum and organisational arrangement are made. All children will transfer to early years in the Autumn term in which they turn five years. A parents meeting is held in June/July when details of the curriculum and organisational arrangements are shared. We operate a staggered entry, over a few weeks to allow the staff to organise opportunities to spend a considerable amount of time with individuals and small groups of children. We recommend a short period of part time attendance for children to help build their confidence in the new setting and we welcome parents support in helping us to provide a smooth transition through school. The early years provision in school allows each child to be taught and share experiences by both early years Nursery and Reception Staff, so as to enable a smooth, almost unnoticed transition to the Reception Year Group.
