*Lessons are 90 minutes long and a total of approximately 15 hours weekly from Monday to Friday.

(Varies according to the course. In addition, you can take elective modules.)

*For some courses, students take Japanese lessons in addition to course subjects.

*For some specific courses in ECC College of Beauty & Style, students may not be permitted to work in

their field of study in Japan after graduation. (Please contact the relevant school for more information.)

Conditions for School Admission

The following conditions must be fulfilled: 1. The applicant must have studied Japanese language for at least 6 months at one of the Japanese

language institutions designated by the Minister of Justice and have had a satisfactory attendance rate.

Alternatively, students must show a level of competence in Japanese equivalent to N2 or higher of the

Japanese Language Proficiency Test or a score of over 200 points on the Examination for Japanese

University Admission for International Students (EJU) test. *Applicants enrolled in a Japanese language school in Japan must have an attendance rate of 85% or

higher. (Consult us if your attendance rate is less than 85% for unavoidable reasons such as health

problems. [However, at least 80% is necessary in this case.]) *Some courses require Japanese ability equivalent to JLPT N1 level, or Grade 2 of EIKEN (Test in

Practical English Proficiency) or a TOEIC score of 500 to 600 points.

2. The applicant must be at least 18 years old and have already completed (or be expected to complete) more than 12 years of schooling overseas.

3. The applicant must have a sense of purpose and strong will to learn within the field in which they intend to study.

*For applicants who do not meet the above requirements, individuals may be allowed to take the school entrance examination if permitted by the principal.

the time of application, and must also be able to pay the appropriate school fees before the due date.

*Overseas applications from some countries or areas must be received by January 31, 2017. Please

contact us for more details.

Selection Process

*Prospective students of some courses may be exempted from the written Japanese language test if any

one of the following criteria are met:

Japanese Language Proficiency Test: N2 (level 2) or higher, Examination for Japanese University

Admission for International Students (EJU)/Japanese: 200 points or higher, J.TEST: 500 points or higher

(Level D or higher) ●Basic English Test (written test)

*Only for applicants of ECC Kokusai College of Foreign Languages

・The date of the selection test will be announced after the submission of the application. (If an applicant

does not pass the document screening, an interview and written test will not be held. In this case, we will

notify the applicant.)

・ Any applicant who holds any certification or score indicated in the chart below and passed the selection

test is qualified for a reduction in school fees accordingly.

(Please refer to page 3 for the specific reductions.)

*The ranks A-C above can be put into effect and the reduction in school fees will take place only on the condition

that your school attendance rate at your Japanese language school at the time of application is maintained till

graduation.

*If you do not have the certificate or score indicated above at the date of selection, but acquire it before the start

of the school year, you will qualify for a reduction in school fees. (Please provide us with your certificate by the end

of February 2017.)

*Your rank will not change, even if you become certified in the Japanese or English tests above after entering our

school. In principle, your tuition reduction rank at the time of entry will be the same for the second year. However,

your ranking will change in the second year if you fail to have a proper attendance rate (below 90%) for the first

year, break school rules, or show improper conduct. (In these cases, the tuition C rank or below will be applied.)

Tuition Fee (lump-sum payment)

International students who have passed the selection tests will be eligible for the honor student school fees. The

following are lump-sum fees. If you pay on the installment plan, 50,000 yen per year will be added to each payment.

50,000 yen will be added to the one-time payment tuition fee every year.

Eg: ECC Kokusai College of Foreign Languages applicant who qualifies for a tuition reduction with a C rank must pay the following:

Regarding payment deadlines

have to pay the insurance premiums.

Reimbursement of tuition Fees

-Application fees, admission fees and expenses will not be reimbursed for any reason.

-Tuition fees and facility fees will be reimbursed on the following condition:

Successful applicants who wish to cancel their admission must notify the college office by 17:00, March 31

2017.

(Successful overseas applicants must submit a notification to cancel their admission by the above-mentioned

date and return to their home country. The school will confirm the invalidation of their student visa.)

About the Scholarships

●Scholarships from Public Institutions

With a recommendation from ECC and acknowledgment from the appropriate organization, scholarship can

be awarded. Grades, study attitude and attendance rate will be considered and only a few students will be

selected.

-Scholarship institute: (independent) Japan Student Services Organization

-Period: 1 year (April till the following March)

-Amount: 48,000 yen/ month

●Special Scholarships for international students of ECC (while in the school) Students eligible for scholarships are selected from students who have a student visa, financial difficulties,

and achieve good grades.

Eligibility

1. Those who need exemptions of fees due to financial difficulties.

2. Have a good attendance rate and good grades.

●Both conditions 1 and 2 mentioned above must be met.

●A few students will be selected from Yamaguchi Gakuen.

Domestic Applications (Foreign students currently living in Japan)

For those who currently live in Japan and attend a Japanese language institute or university, and already

have a visa such as a student visa, please follow the following procedures:

Application period October 3, 2016 (Monday) - March 24, 2017 (Friday) *Students applying after March must have at least 2 weeks left on their visa as of the date of application

and must be able to pay the tuition by the due date. *Application will close when full quota is reached.

The applicant or guarantor should contact us to schedule an appointment before bringing the necessary

documents to the ECC International Students Center. (For those living remote from Osaka, we accept the

application by mail (registered).)

*1-3 is to be filled out by hand by the applicant. Alternatively, the forms can be filled out using a computer but

the applicant’s signature on the pledge must be handwritten.

4. Document of financial sponsorship (Form 4) (The sponsor can fill out the form, or the applicant may fill out the form on the condition that he/ she has the

sponsor’s approval.) The financial sponsor is a person who has a close relationship with the applicant and can

support the applicant financially *In the case where the form is not filled out by the sponsor, ECC may contact the sponsor.

5. Letter from guarantor residing in Japan (Form 5) (To be filled out by guarantor. Not necessary if the applicant has no guarantor in Japan.) Guarantor living in Japan refers to a person who does not support the applicant financially but helps him/ her

on a day-to-day basis and is willing to pay for any expenses during an emergency.

6. 2 ID photographs (4cm x 3cm) --- One for the application form and one for the student card after admission

7. Photocopy of Proof of Graduation or Certification of Graduation from the most recent school attended

8. Photocopy of passport (Copy should include ID page and all pages with immigration stamps.) 9. A copy of a residence card or foreign registration card (front and back).

*7-9 Please bring along the original documents on the day of submission or on the day of examination for

checking purposes.

10. Proof of attendance rate and record of grades from Japanese language school (Prepared within 1 month before applying to our college.)

11. Certificate of Japanese proficiency (Original copy) (necessary only for those who passed) Any one of the following is acceptable

-Score report and certificate of Japanese Language Proficiency Test (N2/ level 2 or higher)

-EJU score report (200 points or higher for Japanese)

-BJT score report (BJT 400 points or higher)

-J. TEST (level D 500 points or higher)

*You can take the entrance examination even if you do not have the Japanese Language Proficiency

qualifications mentioned above.

*Original documents will be returned after the application.

12. Bank statement or remittance certificate After entering Japan, students who receive money from their financial sponsor to pay for tuition fees and living

expenses should provide bank statements or other documentation.

13. ‘Permission to Engage in Activity Other than That Permitted under the Status of Residence

Previously Granted’, wage slip from part-time job or bankbook showing transfer of salary Students who hold part-time jobs, or used to hold part-time jobs may be required to submit these documents

to our college.

14. Proof of English Proficiency Only required if needed for tuition fee reduction (TOEIC 750 points and or higher, IELTS 6.0 or higher. TOEFL

iBT 80 points or higher. PBT 550 points or higher)

Notes regarding the submission of documents

<a> Documents may be submitted with a Japanese translation on a separate piece of paper.

<b> If possible, all documents should be written on official forms that are printed with the name and

address of the issuing organization.

<c> If applicant has a guarantor who currently resides in Japan, please complete the letter of guarantee

(Form 5) and submit it together with the application.

<d> The above written documents are mandatory for the application, though submission of other

documents may be necessary.

<e> Make photocopies of the blank visa application forms and the subsequent completed forms as a

reference in case of reapplication.

<f> Please contact ECC if there are documents that cannot be submitted. <g> Fill in the documents with a ball pen that is NOT erasable.

Overseas applications

For those who live abroad and need a student visa, please follow the instructions below.

Application period September 1 (Thursday). 2016 – February 17 (Friday), 2017 (Note) Please prepare ahead of time in case corrections need to be made to the application.

*Overseas applications from some countries or areas must be received by January 31, 2017. Please

contact us for more details.

*Application will close when full quota is reached.

Come to ECC or a designated place in their applicant’s home county for

information session

will be sent to the Ministry of Justice.

The financial sponsor will pay the admission and tuition fees by a method

specified by the school. After payment has been confirmed, ECC will give

applicant his/ her Certificate of Eligibility

7. Applicant Take Certificate of Eligibility to the Japanese embassy or consulate in

applicant’s home country and apply for a visa. Once the visa has been granted,

begin preparations for coming to Japan.

*Please contact the relevant institutes for documents required for passport and

visa.

9. Arriving in Japan, ECC Admission is subject to cancellation for students who arrive late.

Documents for Application

Applicants must submit the following

1. Application form (Form 1)

Applicants themselves must complete the entire form in Japanese. (Can be handwritten or computer

generated. However, the signature must be handwritten.)

If there are irregularities in the applicant’s academic record, an explanation issued by the school

concerned should be included. The purpose of studying in Japan must be written in detail.

2. Original Proof of Graduation (or prospective graduation) or graduation certificate (original copy) from the most recent school attended.

3. 4 ID photographs

(4x3cm, taken within the last 6 months, from chest up, head uncovered).

4. Photocopy of passport

Must include a copy of the main photo ID page, and the page, and the pages that show your previous

entries into and departures from Japan.

5. Original certificate of Japanese language proficiency At least one of the following is necessary. (Please consult us if you have the results of tests other than

the ones mentioned below.)

- Score report and certificate of Japanese Proficiency Language Test (N2/level 2 or higher).

- EJU score report (200 points or higher for Japanese).

- BJT score report (400 points or higher).

- J. TEST score report (level D. 500 points or higher).

6. A copy of the family register

Alternatively, an original document showing all family members with whom the applicant lives.

7. Written Pledge (Form 2)

Both applicant and sponsor must sign and seal the written pledge.

Financial sponsor must submit the following:

In the case where remittance is made from home country

1. Financial Support statement form (Form 3) Must be filled out by the financial sponsor. (Computer input is acceptable but the document must be

signed by the sponsor.) 2.(1) Choose the tuition fee payment method by circling it

2.(3) The method of providing for living expenses must be indicated. Include the amount of money the

applicant will have upon arrival as well as the amount and number of times the sponsor will provide the

money (e.g. ___months/ payment).

7. Document proving the relationship between applicant and financial sponsor

(1) If the sponsor is a relative of the applicant, family or residential register (as a principle, sponsor should

be closer to the applicant than a third-degree relative)

(2) If the sponsor is a company-related person,

a) explanation of the company or a copy of the company registration.

b) a copy of a letter of credit or a certificate of overseas remittance (in which case the name of the

receiver must be stated along with the official seal of the bank)

c) a copy of the Bill of Lading concerning a transaction

d) a certificate of company registration issued by a foreign government

e) any document which shows the capital investment rate (submit one of the documents listed below)

Japanese side: a photocopy of an application form for obtaining foreign currency which is related to

a direct overseas investment.

Overseas side: a document explaining the amount of investment issued by a foreign government.

If the applicant is to pay for expenses

1. Original bank books and/or bank balance records that show the applicant’s name

To confirm the applicant’s financial status

2. Proof of employment

3. Certificate of income tax payment All amounts should be clearly shown

4. Financial support statement form (Form 3)

Please fill in only (1), (2), (3) of 2, and name with signature.

If applicants intend to support their expenses with a scholarship

1. A certificate issued by the sponsoring organization that shows the amount of money and the name of

the organization <if the organization is a private company or organization>

2. A list of students who received the scholarship in previous years.

If such a list does not exist, an outline of the sponsoring organization, history and documentation

concerning the guidelines for providing scholarship should be submitted. 3. Documents explaining how the applicant received the scholarship

Notes regarding the submission of documents

a) Documents may be submitted with a Japanese translation on a separate piece of paper.

b) All documents must be issued on or after July 1, 2016.

c) All documents should be written on official forms, printed with the name and address of the issuing

organization.

d) If the guarantor is a resident of Japan, the letter of guarantee (Form 4) must be completed by that person and submitted together with the application.

e) The above written documents are mandatory for the application, though the submission of other

documents may be necessary.

f) Make photocopies of the blank visa application forms and the subsequent completed forms as a

reference in case of reapplication.

g) Depending on the applicant's nationality and the conditions of their home country, besides the above-

mentioned documents, other documentation may be necessary.

h) Please contact ECC if there are documents that cannot be submitted.
