NUT FREE SCHOOL Thank you to those parents who continue to support the school in its stance on a nut free environment. This includes nut bars, nut snacks, peanut butter etc. Please remember that our school remains a nut free school to assist in the safety of a number of our students who have severe nut allergies. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

If any family business would like to donate a prize to the raffle please get in touch with any of your P&F Exec, or leave a message at the school office. As a taster, the following prizes have already been secured for some lucky winners: An overnight stay at the Mindarie Marina Hotel and a gift voucher from The Source Bulk Foods in Ocean Keys. Thank you to both of these local businesses for their generous support of our school. Tickets will be sent home in Term Two.

This year we celebrated Harmony Week by displaying a banner on the fence at the kiss n ride over the week. The year 6 Cultural Ministry was involved in painting the letters of Harmony Week in different flags from around the world.

Students were also encouraged to decorate a leaf that described something about their culture. These leaves were displayed on a large tree in the library.

Harmony Day, 21 March, celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

It is a day for all Australians to embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common.

The central message for Harmony Day is that ‘everyone belongs’, reinforcing the importance of inclusiveness to all Australians. Harmony Day, 21 March, celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

In Year 1 Blue, we have been talking about how we are all the same and different at the same time. We all belong to the St Andrew’s community. We listened to a book by Mem Fox called “Whoever You Are.” Every person in the book was unique and special. Here is how the children in our class think they are special.

Faith – I am special because I am funny. Eleanor – I am special because I can dance on the stage and draw and run fast. Elysia – I am special because I share my love for everyone. Rudruksha – I am special because I can speak 5 languages. Heath – I am special because I can swing on vines and play video games. Kayla – I am special because I learn and I can play Tee-ball. Thomas – I am special because I have learnt how to play soccer. Lara – I am special because I do sport well. Faye – I am special because I play with Heath and I play in the cubby house. Ebeny – I am special because I am a big sister. Savannah – I am special because I am good at doing hand stands. Lewis – I am special because I am funny and I can run fast. Cameron – I am special because I am good at maths. Declan – I am special because I can run and I can talk on the stage. Izabella – I am special because I play with my sister and I collect shells. Saul – I am special because I like drawing and collecting Minions. Ava – I am special because I can sing and dance. Jayden – I am special because I play soccer. Aaron – I am special because I can play on the monkey bars. Steven – I am special because I am Australian and I can do Taekwondo. Taj – I am special because I can go to space and play games. Nicolas – I am special because of my birthday. Matthew – I am special because I can swim 100 meters. Joshua – I am special because I am a big brother and I can play soccer. Phoebe – I am special because I am an artist because my grandma taught me. Mia – I am special because I can swim and I collect shells. Olivia – I am special because I can read and swim.
