Double sided acrylic adhesive tapesDescriptionThe ABS family of high performance adhesive products are a range made up of both transparent bonding films and foamed acrylic adhesives, all manufactured using a totally new, cutting edge, 100% acrylic mass technology. With a special composition giving excellent all round bonding properties and unique characteristics that allow for very high performance in the most demanding of applications.

CompositionThe ABS range comprises of products from the ProLink, TransLink and FlexLink product groups and are acrylic adhesive films that do not have a carrier, as the overall tape substrate is adhesive mass. The adhesive is a top performance pressure sensitive formulation giving very good tack

with excellent long term, peel and shear performance. They are excellent for bonding two dissimilar surfaces, where you will get differential rates of expansion.

Features, advantages & benefitsThe ABS family of acrylic adhesives are ideal for a wide range of bonding and mounting applications, they have excellent conformability to uneven surfaces, excellent all weather performance at both very low and high temperatures, with very good chemical resistance. They perform superbly when bonding stainless steel, aluminium, glass, galvanised steel, PVC, Polycarbonates and a wide variety of plastics to name but a few. The tapes are quick clean and easy to use, and come in various thickness from 0.13mm to 1.5mm giving minimal wastage and can replace mechanical fixings in many applications.

Advanced Bonding Systems (ABS)

• One “universal” product system. 3M have several products, for differing surfaces (for powder coats, metals etc).

• R+ adhesive class has good affinity to plastic (incl. Perspex, acrylics, Plexiglas & polycarbonate).

• Higher initial tack than most acrylic foams, means that sub assembled parts can be processed/assembled in situ more quickly.

• No 72hr dwell recommendation on its use.

• FlexLINK more like VHB technology, in that it is more ‘electrometric’. Therefore more efficient as gap filling medium and for eneven surfaces etc.

• Liner removes very easily.

• Single coated product (many acrylic foams have non adhesive core or kernel, that is then coated. This sacrifices performance and risks delamination or splitting of the foam under stress.

• Will not react with solvent, sealants or silicones.

• Will not cloud or discolour plastics.

• UL approved.

FlexLINK Acrylic Foam

• R adhesive class has good affinity to plastic (incl. Perspex, acrylics, plexiglas & polycarbonate) painted, varnished and powder coated surfaces.

• Good initial tack, means that sub assembled parts can be processed/assembled in situ more quickly

• No 72hr dwell recommendation on its use.

• Very high adhesion to metals.


• Very highly transparent (alternate products can be cloudy or yellow). Good light transmission (for illuminated lettering etc).

• Will not yellow or discolour when exposed to UV, even many years in situ.

• Very good as a shock absorber (i.e. between metal sheets/frame, to absorb vibration).

• Equalises stress along the joint line (welding, screwing, rivets introduces focused points of stress).

Nitto Black Low Tack Polythene Protection Film - Reference 3103H with 100-micron film.This product is the highest quality Black Low Tack protection Film available today. It has a 100-micron thick film, which makes it excellent for site work where the product could be stored outdoors for long periods of time. Other products are made from 80-micron film and can be scratched and damaged much easier.

Nitto Black on White Low Tack Polythene Protection Film - Reference 30804 with 80 micron film. This product is excellent for use where you need to write on the finished product. As this film has a white finish this allows marking of the product through production stages, if required.

Blanking TapeMade from an exceptionally strong material, which means no accidental site damage. We also coat it across the width of the tape with the same adhesive system that we use for our Breather Tape - a Thermoplastic Rubber Resin Polycarbonate friendly adhesive system.

Self Adhesive Foil Blanking TapeWe coat our own foil with two different adhesive systems, which are both Polycarbonate friendly. The first is a Hot Melt Rubber Adhesive and the second is an Acrylic Adhesive System. We coat onto either 30 micron or 40 micron thick foil which are the two main products used in the polycarbonate industry. Our foil is presented in two formats, either self-wound from the roll or linered with a paper release liner to protect the adhesive. It is normally down to operator preference how customers purchase the product.
