Transfer to ACU!We are excited you are considering transferring
to Abilene Christian, and we are here to help you
through the process. ACU conducts rolling
admissions for transfer students. You are eligible
to enroll in classes in the fall, spring or summer
semesters, and new student orientation (Passport
for fall transfers; Welcome Weekend for spring
transfer) is available prior to the start of the fall
and spring semesters. Below you will find the
five easy steps to become an ACU student.
Steps to Enroll1. Complete an Application for Admission online at acu.edu/apply. There is no application fee for transfer students.
2. Complete optional personal statement.
3. Send your official college transcript(s) to the Office of Admissions.
4. Once we receive the above items, you will be considered for admission to ACU. We reserve the right to request a high school transcript and/or ACT/SAT scores for applicants with minimal transferrable hours. You will be notified of your admissions status once your admissions file is complete.
5. Should you be granted admission, you will be given access to the online process to confirm your admission and pay your enrollment deposit. If you are required to live on campus, you also will be able to submit your Housing Preference Form and select a meal plan option. Check out our FAQs page to see if you are eligible to live off campus.

Frequently Asked QuestionsDo I qualify as a transfer?
If you are currently enrolled at another institution, have graduated from high
school (or have a GED) and hold a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher you may transfer
to ACU. Please note the last 32 hours of your degree must be completed at ACU.
Do you offer transfer scholarships?
ACU offers Transfer Merit Awards to students with a 2.75 GPA or higher:
• 2.75 to 2.99 GPA = $4,000 per year (must maintain a 2.5 GPA at ACU to renew)
• 3.0 to 3.49 GPA = $6,000 per year (must maintain a 3.0 GPA at ACU to renew)
• 3.5 to 4.0 GPA = $8,000 per year (must maintain a 3.2 GPA at ACU to renew)
The transfer merit awards are annually renewable for up to six long semesters
while qualified students pursue their first degree. GPA requirements to renew your
scholarship are listed above.
Will my classes transfer in?
No more than 66 semester credit hours may be transferred in from a community
college, junior college or other two-year institution. Transfer courses with a grade
of C or higher from regionally accredited institutions will be posted to your ACU
records and may count toward graduation if the credits are appropriate. ACU will
post transfer courses at the same level they were taken at a previous institution.
ACU accepts only work comparable to work offered at ACU. Grades for transfer
courses are not calculated in your GPA at ACU.
You are encouraged to check out the Texas Common Course Numbering System
for more details on course compatibility. You also may contact your admissions
counselor to request a free transcript evaluation for the most accurate assessment
of course compatibility. Your admissions counselor will help you determine how many
Bible, exercise science and other ACU-specific courses you may be required to take.
How can I get involved on campus?
As a new student, you must attend either Passport (entering fall students) or
Welcome Weekend (entering spring students), our orientation programs for
first-time ACU students. At orientation, you’ll have the opportunity to develop
close relationships with fellow, new ACU students, faculty and staff. You can also
participate in extracurricular activities and get involved in any of the nearly 100
student-led organizations on campus. Learn more at acu.edu/explore.
Can I study abroad?
Yes. Whether it’s for two weeks, the summer or an entire semester, in England,
Germany or Uruguay, with ACU or as a part of a CCCU “Best Semester” program,
all ACU students are encouraged to participate in study abroad.
Do I have to live on campus?
ACU requires all first- and second-year students to live in residence halls. To be
eligible to live off campus or in University Park Apartments, you must be two years
out of high school, be married or be 21 years of age before the semester begins.
Students under 21 may live with their parent(s) or guardian(s).
Do I have to purchase a meal plan?
Any student living on campus is required to purchase a meal plan. There are
several options from which to choose. Besides the World Famous Bean, meal
plans also may be used during specific hours at Pizza Hut, Bagel Wagon, Fatted
Café, Connections Café, Coffee Bean, Java City and Starbucks. Most meal plan
options include Bean Bucks, which may be used to purchase food at all locations
listed above as well as Einstein Brothers Bagels, Chick-Fil-A and Quiznos. You can
view specific meal plan options at acu.edu/admissions/transfer. If you meet the
requirements to live off campus, the meal plan is optional. All food locations on
campus also accept cash and debit/credit cards.

Students: About 4,400 students, including approximately 3,650 undergraduates and 750 graduate students, generally from 47 states and territories, and 43 nations.
Location: ACU is in Abilene, Texas, an award-winning city of 117,000 people 150 miles west of the Dallas and Fort Worth area.
Faculty: More than 245 full-time faculty members with 97 percent of tenure-track faculty holding terminal degrees. A student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1.
Financial Aid*: This school year, ACU students will receive more than $80 million in financial aid. This fall, the average freshman received a financial aid package (grants, scholarships, loans and work-study) of more than $21,900.
Annual Cost*: $26,770 for tuition and general fees (up to 36 hours per year in ACU’s annual block tuition plan), plus approximately $8,650 for room and board and $1,100 for textbooks and supplies.
Graduate Success: More than 80 percent of ACU students who apply for admission to medical and dental schools are accepted, a rate double the national average. More than 90 percent of students who apply to law school are accepted
International Study: ACU’s Study Abroad programs take students to study in places such as Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. Nearly 25 percent of graduating seniors have studied abroad.
Campus Technology: ACU’s award-winning mobile-learning initiative helps ensure cutting-edge technology is an integral part of each student’s education. The university’s AT&T Learning Studio and Learning Commons, both in Brown Library, provide innovative spaces for students to collaborate and acquire skills to use the latest technology. The campus has full wireless Internet access.
Student Organizations: There are about 100 campus organizations in which stu-dents can become involved, including social clubs; government; and service, honor and special-interest groups.
Health, Wellness and Recreation: The new $21 million Royce and Pam Money Student Recreation and Wellness Center is a focal point on campus. Designed to encourage wellness of the whole individual – body, mind and spirit– it includes the Weber Medical and Counseling Care Center and is the home of a dynamic intramurals program with championship and recreational leagues for students of all interests and abilities.
Athletics: NCAA Division I, Southland Conference (beginning Fall 2013). Football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, men’s golf, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s softball, and women’s soccer. Only three NCAA Division I universities – UCLA, Stanford and USC – have won more national championships than the Wildcats.
