In 2014, LED worked with hundreds of new companies and dozens of local companies in the relocation and/or expansion of new jobs and new capital investment for the Lawton community.
LED was directly involved in establishing 616 new jobs with an average annual wage of $43,726.79. These annual salaries are above Comanche County’s present salaryaverage by over 19.5%. These new jobs have resulted in $26.9 million in new payroll and an equivalent to $31.8 million including benefits.

LED’s work with over 250 national developers has resulted in a new retail and entertainment center for the city’s West side and new investment in a multi-purpose center on the city’s East side. LED continues to work with healthcare facilities and industrial property developments.
Additionally, LED has delivered over 3 dozen marketing and investment packages in support of the Downtown Second Street Project. This past year LED has been directly involved with $21.6 million of new capital investment into the community that has made a $28 million tax base increase through land acquisition, construction, and facility development.

LED has referred dozens of entrepreneur inquiries to Great Plains Technology Center (GPTC) and Cameron University in support of developing businesses, marketing plans, and potential incubator space. LED’s suuports the creation of industry and new business in Lawton through its commitment to provide intentionally designed products and research materials.
LED economic research and regional demographics are used by existing and startup companies. The Economic Development Review and Economic Outlook have been downloaded over 300 times and 554 hard copies have been delivered. LED hadmultiple meetings and provided in depth assistance to four startup businesses that included waste disposal and plastics & garbage recycling.

With the assistance from local businesses through LED’s Launch Lawton Campaign, President Albrecht was able to attend dozens of targeted industry tradeshows and participated in call trips around the country with the Oklahoma Governor’s Marketing Team. Additionally, Albrecht teamed with local companies to support their new business pursuits in technology based trade conferences. This has resulted in the development in 30 active industry leads and 67 qualified prospects. LED’s ongoing efforts in expanding its site selector database has resulted indiscovering and contacting 252 commercial real estate andnational site selecting organizations. Additionally these efforts included 77 in-depth meetings with industry executives.

LED updated and expanded its website and has created new Social Media platforms to promote the Lawton community and its capabilities. This included new strategic directions that leverage regional assets and communities.
LED has measured a 6% increase of usage that reflects 405,334 hits total this year. The LED community video has been seen over 9,378 times on YouTube and over 14 thousand times on Facebook. LED has designed new ads and has strategically placed advertisements in targeted industry publications. LED has provided editorial content to various local and national media outlets which has resulted in 19 ad placements and editorial stories for the Lawton community.

The Second Annual Economic Development Luncheon was a successful event, with over 200 business leaders attending. The guest speakers, Oklahoma State Treasurer Dr. Ken Miller and economist Dr. Mark Snead, owner of RegionTrack, presented the current state of Oklahoma’s economic conditions and forecast.
Two community awards were presented: the “2015 Economic Development Community Cornerstone Award” was presented to Fort Sill Fires Center of Excellence, “In recognition of (their) long term economic commitment to the city of Lawton and Southwest Oklahoma.” The “2015 Economic Development Community Appreciation Award” was presented to Northrop Grumman “In recognition of (their) contribution through STEM education creation, within the Lawton community.”
During the event, LED released the 2015 Economic Review and Outlook over 200 copies were released during the luncheon. The cost of the luncheon was supported through sponsorship by local businesses.

LED CEO, Albrecht consistently met with the Department of the Army officials and attended multiple visits to the Pentagon in support of Fort Sill’s mission. LED actively partnered with numerous community sectors in response to the Supplemental Programmatic Environmental Assessment (SPEA). LED officials worked diligently in the research and design of the economic development portion of the community presentation that was presented December 9, 2014. The Department of the Army responded to the community presentation on July 9, 2015, by announcing the Army’s force reduction would not negativelyimpact Fort Sill but bring an increase of over 200 jobs to the installation.

LED worked in partnership with Oklahoma Department of Commerce and Oklahoma Governor’s Marketing Team. LED worked alongside other economic development organizations in the state to develop a comprehensive marketing plan to increase consideration of Oklahoma as a business location. LED participated in numerous Call Trips with the Department of Commerce to various cities across the U.S. where they met with senior industry executives. LED also, teamed with the OKlahoma Department of Commerce and Oklahoma’s Governor’s Marketing Team in attending focused industry trade shows and private one-on-one meetings with Fortune 500.

LED escalated its working relationship with the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce in support of various economic development legislative issues. This relationship has resulted in Cosmetic Specialty Labs, a local Lawton business, being highlighted at the 2015 State Chamber annual luncheon in an industry spotlight video. The Cosmetic Specialty Spotlight video is now displayed on the State Chamber’s website, LED’s website and is being used locally by various organizations.

This annual report is on the operations of the Lawton Fort Sill Economic Development Corporation (LED). The LED continues to provide economic development services to the community in multiple measurable activities with a primary goal to create jobs.
