Acrostic poem: Definition• An acrostic poem uses the letters

in a topic word to begin each line. • All the lines of the poem should

tell more about or describe the topic word. • This verse is usually unrhymed.• Acrostic poetry can be about

ANYTHING!!

Here’s an example:

Really wet outsideAlways remember your

umbrellaI love rainy daysNeed my rain boots

Chewy or softAppetizingNever fails to cheer you upDeliciousYummy

Laughing at every joke.Over all the bad things.Very best relationship.Eternal.

Once you’ve chosen a topic…..

• Create a web of ideas about your topic

Acrostic Assignment• Write 3 (three) different acrostic poems.• Each acrostic must be about something

different.• The 1st acrostic will be “single words”;

the 2nd acrostic will be “phrases”; the 3rd acrostic will be a

continuous sentence”• Check spelling• Use BIGGER words!
