Jon wants to go to a club tonight and he wants to know if you and I can go. He really wants to see us again. I’m not sure, because I really like dancing but I’m also quite tired today. What do you think? I know you like dancing too, so do you want to go? Maybe we can go for one or two hours? If you want to go, you can come to my house for something to eat first. Phone me or send me a message to tell me what you think. Thanks Pedro. Bye. Achievement test 2 LISA: Excuse me, do you work here? SHOP ASSISTANT: Yes, can I help you? L: Well, I bought these jeans here last Saturday, but I want to change them. Is that OK? SA: It depends. Do you have the receipt? L: Yes, I have it here. They were 39.95. SA: OK, that’s fine. What was the problem with the jeans? Do you need a different size? L: No, the size is fine. It’s the colour. I’m not happy with it. I thought the red ones were nice when I saw them in the shop, but when I put them on at home I didn’t really like them. SA: I see. So do you want to change them for a different colour? L: Yes, I think so. What colours do you have? SA: Well, if you don’t like the red ones you can try the blue ones, or maybe the green ones. And I think we have them in black as well. L: OK, can I try the green ones? SA: Yes, of course. What size? Small, medium, large or extra large? L: Er, medium. SA: OK, let’s see … Oh, I’m sorry, but we don’t have the green ones in a medium. We only have green in large and extra large. L: Oh dear. I think large is too big for me. SA: Well, we also have these other trousers. They’re not jeans, but they’re quite similar. They’re green, and we have them in medium. L: Hmm. How about these blue jeans? Do you have them in medium? SA: Just a moment … yes, we have three pairs of the jeans. L: Could I try these blue jeans on then, and, I think, the green trousers as well? SA: Yes, of course. Here you are. End of course achievement test JENNY: Hello? LUKE: Hi, is that Jenny? J: Yes, it is. Who is this? L: Hi Jenny, it’s Luke here, from work. J: Oh, hi Luke. Sorry, I didn’t recognise your voice. L: That’s OK. Do you want me to call you later? Are you busy? J: No, I’m not - it’s OK. How are you? I didn’t see you in the office today. L: No, I didn’t go today. I wasn’t very well. J: Oh dear. Nothing serious, I hope? L: No, just a cold. That’s probably why you didn’t recognise my voice! J: [laughs] Yes, probably! So how can I help? L: Well, I’m phoning because I’m going to a concert next week with some friends, but one of them can’t go now – she had an operation yesterday and she has to stay in hospital for the next two weeks. Anyway, I know you like going to concerts, so would you like to come with us? It’s on Wednesday night. J: Oh, I see. On Wednesday? Well, I’m free then, I think. What kind of concert is it? L: It’s a jazz band from America. You probably don’t know them, but they’re very good. They’re called The Jazz Dynamos. Do you know them? J: The Jazz Dynamos? No, I don’t. But I really like jazz music, so I’d love to go. Where is it? And what time? L: It’s at the Apollo Club, a new place in the city centre. It starts at 8, but we’re going to eat something first. I’m meeting my friends at the bus station at 6.30. You can just phone me on my mobile to see where we are, can’t you? J: Yes, I can. Thanks for the invitation. L: No problem. Well, see you at work tomorrow – probably! J: Yes, OK. Take care then. L: You too. Bye.
