Achievement of SEID project Over 4 Trainings of Trainers (TOT) held to train and orient local graduates and engineering students to become future local consultants in the field of SCP and Resource Efficiency. Over 80 local individuals from Industry, Academia and others have been trained so far in Bhutan. Tutored and trained final year students at Collge of Science and Technology at Rinchending, Phuentsholing for 3 months on SCP and RE. Organized 3 CEO forums over a phase of 3 years to sign in Industries and to give foresight to top management on Sustainable Industry management and practice and as awareness campaign on various RE and RP best practices. Ongoing MSME support programme with assessment, implementation and monitoring of total of 80 Agro and Tourism related Industries towards ensuring better understanding and interpretation of Sustainable consumption and production. Creation of showcase of clean production technology with knowledge transfer and hands on to Industries on emerging technologies like pressurized water jet cleaner, use of EDPM seals and door brushes, LED floodlights and aluminum tapes. Additionally there are plans underway to install solar water heater in one of the hotels and solar tubular light in one of the Industries. Creation of Green Club in over 6 schools in Thimphu with sensitization workshops/ seminars and competitions. MoM signed with CST on empowering the Institute on SCP.

Achievement of SEID project

Ongoing effort to empower the academia for sustainability of the project and to create and strengthen platform to promote collaboration between Industry and Academia. To this end two meetings have been held with the academia and an expert study is underway to plan the way forward.

Towards dissemination of knowledge on best practices the project has produced manuals which have been distributed to the target Industries, Academia and government sector.

Series of stakeholder meeting with relevant government agencies like Ministry of Works and Human Settlement, Department of Renewable Energy, municipality, other nodal agencies and Industries to study and assess the Institutional mechanism for the policy recommendation to the government.
