ART Curriculum The Y115 art curriculum is based on the current National Core Arts Standards. These standards are;
Creating- generate, organize, develop and refine artistic ideas
Presenting- analyze, interpret and select work for presentation
Responding-interpret intent and meaning in artwork, apply criteria to evaluate artwork
Connecting- relate artistic ideas with societal, cultural and historical context

*K grades are given per semester, while 1-6 are given quarterly
6th GRADING:Letter grades are given in 6th grade art. Grades are based on students’ daily in class work efforts as well as student projects.
Music Schedule:

Music Class General Info
Kindergarten: Students will create music through exploration using instruments and voice.
1st Grade: Students will produce tuneful singing and compose using iconic notation.
2nd Grade: Students will compose using standard notation and perform simple melodies with accuracy.
3rd Grade: Students will demonstrate rhythm and pentatonic scale through improvising and composing.
4th Grade: Students will sing and play simple melodies using diatonic scale and relate pitch names to their location on the treble staff.
5th Grade: Students will perform varied melodies and harmonies and will relate pitch names to their location on the bass staff and extended treble clef.
