Data and Documentation: Locate and Access
Data
Data not held by the ESDS
• The LSYPE data can be linked to three administrative (non-survey) data files using the SURVEYID variable:
– National Pupil Database • includes data on pupils’ attainment at KS2, KS 3 and KS 4 and data about
the pupil such as free school meal eligibility and SEN status.• (N.B. ESDS makes available a ‘reduced’ version of the NPD).
– School Level Data
• contains information about the school each sample member attended at the sampling stage.
– Geographical Data • data from the National Statistics Postcode Directory (NSPD) have been
linked by postcode.
Researchers requiring access to these data should contact DCSF directly, completing the application form from Appendix D of the user guide.
