Please read the following instructions carefully before completing the application.

1. In completing this application, it is important to consult the following documents: Academic Promotions Policy; Academic Promotions: Application Procedures; Guidelines on the Criteria and Evidence Requirements for Level E; Academic Performance Matrices and Evidence (APME) Framework; ACU Capability Development Framework (CDF), and Academic Promotions – Guide for Applicants.

2. This application pro-forma is in FOUR parts:

Part 1 is to be completed by the applicant (9 pages plus list of publications) Part 2 is to be completed by the applicant’s nominated supervisor (4 pages) Part 3 allows the applicant to address the promotion criteria (16 pages), including:

a one page statement on what the applicant would contribute to the University on promotion to Professor

Part 4 is a checklist to be completed by the applicant.

3. The page limit does not include the printouts of the University’s Student Evaluation of Learning and Teaching (SELT), Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET)/ Student Evaluation of Unit (SEU) surveys, Orion ACU Research Profile Report, additional information regarding research contributions and the higher degree research supervisor’s report (if applicable), which are to be attached to the application.

4. The application is to be produced using the current version of the online pro-forma.

5. Applicants should use 12 Times New Roman font and allow single spacing.

6. When completing Part 3, applicants should consult and closely follow the guidelines for promotion as set out in the Guidelines on the Criteria and Evidence Requirements for Promotion to Level E.

7. After the nominated supervisor completes Part 2, both the applicant and nominated supervisor sign the application and the applicant sends the completed application to the email address [email protected].

8. Where your application does not meet the criteria and evidence for promotion , the Committee may discontinue consideration of your application at any stage.

Material Evidence for Assessment See Academic Promotions: Application Procedures, Section 2.3.3Applicants should list the material evidence for assessment below. In determining the most relevant material evidence, please consult Section 2.3.3 of the Academic Promotions: Application Procedures.

The items presented as material evidence for assessment must be supplied at the same time that the application is lodged. An electronic copy in PDF or equivalent should be provided for distribution to the assessors. Hard copies of the material evidence may be provided where appropriate due to the nature of the material evidence provided.

Where it is not practical to submit non-traditional research outputs in hard or electronic copy, an applicant should provide the Promotions Committee with copies of high quality recordings, photographs or DVDs.

This part is to be completed by the applicant's nominated supervisor (normally the Deputy Head of School, State Head of School, National Head of School, Research Institute Director, Research Centre Director or Research Program Director). Where the staff member and supervisor are applying for promotion to the same level, the staff member approaches the next level supervisor for the nominated supervisor’s report.

After the nominated supervisor has completed the comments and the applicant has seen them and signed that they have sighted them, the applicant forwards both the comments and the application by email to [email protected] by the closing date.

PART 3: Promotion criteria to be addressed by the applicantGuidelines for the Applicant1. In completing Part 3, applicants are advised to refer to the University’s Guidelines on the Criteria and

Evidence Requirements for Promotions to Levels D, as well as the Guidelines on Page 1 of this pro-forma.

2. Applicants must respond to all the promotion criteria relevant to the ACP they are applying under and divide their application into clearly headed sections relevant to the ACP the applicant is applying under. The promotion criteria include:

ii Research and Creative Works iii Teaching, Curriculum Development and Scholarship of Teachingiv Academic Leadership/Service

In addition, applicants need to include a one page statement on what they would contribute to the University on promotion to Professor.

3. Applicants should: consider devoting a minimum of one page to each criterion that is addressed in their response,

relevant to the ACP the applicant is applying under. focus content on work completed in the period since appointment, or the period from the last

promotion at ACU for up to five years. include evidence that demonstrates their commitment to Catholic Identity and Mission for each

promotion criterion. refer to APME Framework Evidence document for examples of activities that will demonstrate

activity, quality, impact and esteem.use the ACU Capability Development Framework to articulate how you have developed or are developing the CDF Core Competencies relevant to your case for promotion.

Applicants are reminded that the Committee makes its assessment on the basis of the written material presented. This includes information contained in Parts 1-3 of this pro-forma and the comments from referees.

4. Applicants should refer to the Guidelines on the Criteria and Evidence Requirements for Promotion to Levels D (Sections 4 and 5) for information regarding the expectations of the role and the evidence requirements, including mandatory evidence requirements. Note that mandatory evidence includes an Orion printout for Research and Creative Works and SELT/SET/SEU survey printouts for Teaching, Curriculum Development and Scholarship of Teaching.
