ACADEMIC AWARDS: 2018 VERITAS PREPARATORY ACADEMY
With these awards bestowed by the academy, we honor the intellectual and moral virtues displayed by students in and out of the classroom this school year. We also recognize that these virtues find praise outside of our school, in awards and scholarships from other institutions and individuals.
Recognizing these students' strengths in mind and heart, we know they can go forward to achieve even further success in the years ahead.

THE DEAN'S LIST
Two students are chosen by the deans each year to join the Dean’s list. A student chosen for this list distinctly embodies the habits of character which a Veritas education seeks to impart. Their actions have been wise, kind, generous, and full of wonder; they are servants of the truth. Students such as this help teach us what it means to grow into good men and women.

SUBJECT EXCELLENCE AWARDS
Awarded for each subject to students who earn a solid A grade (not A-) in both semesters. An A represents not only
quantitative excellence on assessments, but qualitative demonstration of character through the student's manner
of participation within the classroom. Students are listed alongside the subjects for which they earned this honor.

ATHLETICS HONORS
THE FALCON AWARD
The Falcon Award is one of the highest awards that can be bestowed on a Veritas student. Each coach nominates a student to receive this award; then the faculty select from amongst those nominees the two students who have demonstrated the highest character and integrity. The coaches’ recommendation is not based simply on athletic ability, but is based on all of the virtues of the true sportsman: teamwork personal integrity, and sacrifice of self in the service of the common end. These virtues, taught in the classroom, are lived out on the athletic field. Not only can these students speak about virtue, but they live the life of virtue.

HIGH-SCHOOL IRONMAN AWARD
Given to any student who plays a sport in all three seasons and maintains a 3.0 GPA, this is one of the most physically and intellectually challenging awards a student can receive at Veritas, requiring a great expenditure of time, effort and energy. Those who win show the fierce will and determination that success is bred of.

MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS
We honor those who excel during this transitional time, and we look forward to seeing their character and talents continue to grow, into high school and beyond.
PROMOTION AWARDS
This award is the highest honor which the faculty can confer upon a member of the eighth-grade class. It represents not only intelligence and diligence, but the true great-hearted spirit which should serve as a model for every student in this community. These students have shown the qualities of moral and intellectual leadership that will serve them and their classmates well as they enter high school.
