EPCOS India Private Limited (EIPL) is a Member of TDK-EPC Corporation, Japan.EPCOS emerged in 1999 as a successor to the joint venture Siemens Matsushita Components and the former Siemens passive Components and Electron Tubes Group. The company has been selling electronic components in India since the early 60s. Today, all business activities in India come under the umbrella of EPCOS India Private Limited, having Registered head office at Kalyani Plant in West Bengal and regional offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata. In mid-90s EPCOS significantly stepped up its commitment to India by opening new manufacturing facility at Kalyani in West Bengal and Nashik in Maharashtra. And now, EPCOS again reinforced its trust in India by opening up one more manufacturing facility at Bawal in Haryana.
EPCOS in India is involved in design, manufacturing and marketing of a broad range of top quality products such as AC-mfd capacitors, LV Power Factor Correction Capacitors (resin, inert gas and oil filled designs), Key Components required for PF correction system, PF correction systems (APFC Panels), MV Capacitors, MV Capacitors Switch, MV Reactive Power Compensation systems, Power Electronic Capacitors, DC Capacitors, MPP film and
high performance ferrite cores. Nashik factory also houses the Global R&D for Film metallisation, AC and PFC Products and Systems while Kalyani is Centre of Excellence for soft ferrites. EPCOS India also services the demands of customers for a wide variety of components from global factories of TDK-EPC

Construction : For film capacitors, the metalized technology is applied. An extremely thin metal film is deposited in a high vacuum onto the low-loss polypropylene film. Then two layers of metalized film are wound to form the electrodes. The impulse resistance is possible due to the so-called self-healing effect. By using polypropylene as the dielectric, the capacitors have a particularly low dissipation factor.
Application : AC film capacitors are usable for general sine-wave applications as filters, inverters, UPS devices etc., but are also particularly suitable for the operation of asynchronous electric motors and electric compressors. Cautions and Warnings:
Storage and operating conditions:Do not use or store capacitors in a corrosive atmosphere, especially where chloride gas, sulfide gas, acids, alkalis, salts or similar substances are present. In a dusty environment, regular maintenance and cleaning, especially of the terminals, is required to avoid formation of a conductive path between phases and/or phases and ground.
Ambient temperature:The capacitor must not be exposed to direct heat or fire. The permissible range of minimum and maximum temperatures is specified on the capacitor, i.e. 25/70/21 = minimum permissible temperature: -25 °C,max. permissible temperature: 70 °C.25/85/21 = minimum permissible temperature: -25 °C,max. permissible temperature: 85 °C.
Temperature is one of the main stress factors for polypropylene type capacitors. It has a major influence on their useful operating life. It should be noted that thisuseful life is considerably shorter in the case of highertemperature requirements. If the maximum permissibletemperature is exceeded, the safety device may becomeinoperative.
Installation:Mounting orientation:The AC Capacitors may be mounted in any orientation.
Fixing:The AC Capacitors must be installed in a cool and well ventilated place and should not be placed close to objects that radiate heat.
Connectors:In case of fast-on terminals, the female connectors mustbe of suitable design to ensure a good contact. Do notsolder cables directly onto the fast-on terminals, as theterminal may overheat, causing the capacitor safety device to malfunction.
Connecting cable:The cable used for connecting capacitors must be capable of carrying at least 1.5 times the rated current of the capacitor. It must exert no mechanical force on the capacitor terminal. Any mechanical force applied to these terminals may result in damage.
Harmonics:Harmonics are sinusoidal voltages and currents whose frequencies are multiples of a 50 Hz or 60 Hz power supply frequency. They result from the operation of electrical loads with nonlinear voltage-current characteristics.These loads are largely associated with modern electronic devices such as converters, electrical drives, welding machines and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).Harmonics may cause a higher than rated current to flow through the capacitors, which may overheat and get damaged. This may cause operational failures, bursting and fire. The maximum permissible current (including fundamental and harmonic currents) specified in the technical data of the relevant series must not be exceeded under any circumstances.

Warranty:1. Products manufactured by us are warranted against defects arising out of manufacturing processes or use of defective raw material, for a period of 18 months from the date of our supply or 12 months from the date of installation whichever is earlier. The company reserves the right to either replace or to repair the defective items after ascertaining facts through a detailed service report on usage of our products in normal conditions. The company reserves the right to take back the defective goods for carrying out study or inspection.2. Warranty is not applicable if the products are found tampered with or subjected to calibration changes. The company's liabilty is limited to repair or replace the defective product only. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any consequential loss, injury or damages attributable to defect or failure of it's products.3. Proof of purchase to be retained to avail warranty.4. Any dispute arising in this regard shall be subjected to jurisdiction of courts in Nashik, in the state of Maharashtra - India.
