How it worksUsers choose hobbies and interests upon creating an account. From there, they can choose to make their profile private and viewable by friends only or publicly available to other users.

Buddypass is location-based powered by the device’s GPS, making it possible to locate other users within the vicinity. Users can choose the distance from 1 – 1000 miles around them. Once a user finds other users, they can:

1) Send messages and chat with other users2) Send invitations to individual users to hangout3) Send invitations to groups of Buddypassers to organized events4) Send invitations to friends through Facebook and Address Book integration

HistoryFounded on September 1st, 2014, Buddypass is the brainchild of Andrew Thompson, an entrepreneur who organizes events for a living. The idea came to him while driving from Montreal to Toronto – why not create an app to bring people with similar interests together? Unlike most social networking apps in the market, it aims to create new friendships and strong bonds by getting people to actually hang out and do things together.
