Monthly Vishnu Sahasranama Parayanam
The Vishnu Sahasranama translating literally to "the thousand names of Vishnu" is a list of 1,000 names (sahasranama) of Vishnu, It is also one of the most sacred and commonly chanted stotras in Hinduism. One notable thing about the Sahasranama is that it includes names of other Hindu deities such as Shiva, Brahma, etc. within it. Every 1st Sunday of the Abishekam (Thirumanjanam) to Lord Narayan and His Consorts is performed at the temple. Devotees of Lord Vishnu join together to recite Vishnu Sahasranama, Sukthams and other slokas during the Abishekam.

Adi Kiruthikai(Karthikai Star) is very auspicious day for Lord Murugan. Lord Murugan is the second child of Lord Shiva and Lord Parvathi ..
As Lord Murugan was brought up by “Karthikai Virgins” he got the special name “Karthikeyan”. Devotees observe fasting on Adi Kiruthikai(Karthikai)day have the blessing of Lord Shiva and gets “Moksha” stage after their life.Lord Shiva gave this boon to Karthikai Virgins according to “Skantha Puranam” Hindu Tamil literature.. Lord Murugan devotees celebrate this day with fasting and Pal Kudam (Milk Pot) with Kavadi prayer in most of the Murugan Temples around the world

Adi Pooram is celebrated in all Hindu temples in southern India in the month called Adi or Ashadha, corresponding to the English months of
July-August, when the asterism Pooram (Delta Leonis) is in the ascendancy. The festival is observed to propitiate the goddess Sakti Devi
who is said to have come into this world on this occasion to bless the people. People therefore worship her in order to secure happiness not only
for themselves but also for their loved ones.

Significance of Chathurthi
The fourth day after new moon and fourth day after full moon in the Hindu calendar is observed as Chaturthi and is dedicated to Lord Ganesha.
But there are two Chaturthis in a month – Sankatahara (Sankashti) and Vinayakar (Vinayaki).
-The monthly Chathurti day which falls after full moon is known as Sankatahara (Sankashti) Chaturthi.Sankadahara Chathurthi on 30th July

-The monthly Chaturthi after Amavasi or new moon is known as Vinayakar
(Vinayaki )Chaturthi.

Suntharamoorhy Nayanar at 7.30pm.
Suntharamoorthy Nayanar
Sundaramoorthy nayanar born in Tamilnadu the place called
Thirunavaloor.(between7th-12th century AD). Parents: Chadaiyanar (father) and Ichainzaniyar (mother) His child name is Nambiyarurar.
He was adopted by the King Narasinha Munayarayar and grown up with the royal family.
Sundarar blessed by Lord Shiva.He worshiped Lord Shiva by sweet Tamil songs called Thevarams.Sundarar’s religious Tamil songs placed on 7th “Thirumurai” in HinduTamil literature with Thevarams.Thirumurais have
total number of 12.

details on our separate event poster and event temple notice boards.

Note: Management Committee wishes to invite devotees to sign up as volunteers to clean the Vali Pillaiyar and the environ.It is anticipated that one family will tend to the cleaning of ‘Vali Pillaiyar’ and the environ once a week preferably on a Friday or on the week end. If required an information sheet is available as a guide for the volunteers at the temple.

HASQ Management committee decided to run canteen - Cafeteria facility on Sundays (starts on 25th July 2010)10.00am to 12.00noon .Volunteers prepare vegetarian food on site and serve hygienically to the devotees.

• Brisbane Selvavinayakar(Ganesha) Temple encourage devotees to
participate on monthly devotional bajans group.Bajans use to be
held on last Friday of each month after the evening Puja 7.30pm.( 30th
July Friday).Please feel free to join with the group and feel free to
bring your instruments if you know to play at bajans.
