Empowering People in Smart Sustainable Cities
Smart = Making cities & communities more sustainable, supported by ICT where this makes sense

Hence, we are not just dealing with “urban planning” but actually with a matter of life and death.
How through cities may we save the planet?
Ólafur Ragnar Grimsson, former president of Iceland, Chairman of the International Renewable Energy Agency's Global Commission on the Geopolitics of Energy Transformation, during the 2018 China-EU Sustainable Urbanisation Conference “Digital XiongAn: Empowering the Future” in Beijing, 12 December 2018.

• Being among the first validated movers in a rapidly growing market demand for people-driven smart city approaches;
• Better insight of the needs of cities and communities, enabling companies to develop more effective tenders, targeted services & sustainable business models;
• Promoting an entrepreneurial public sector driving urban innovation. Better access to public sector as a market segment, allowing this to become an engine for private sector;
• Collaborative pilots more extensive than individual partners can achieve by themselves, promoting scaling-up from experiments, and learning from other frontrunners.
