PEOPLE’S CHOICE EXHIBITIONThe Peoples’ Choice Exhibition each year is a chance for members to showcase their work to theMackay public. It has proved very popular with visitors to the Gordon White Library, with manypeople casting votes for their favourite image. The photographer of the highest voted image of theexhibition is awarded a trophy.
THEME: AUSTRALIAN MADEThis year’s exhibition will have the theme “Australian Made”. We’re hoping to show the pride wehave in belonging to this wonderful country, the love and emotion we have for its people, its floraand fauna, its iconic architecture and of course its diverse landscapes. Let’s try and createimages that define who we are, images that have a distinctly Australian flavor.
Envisioning a portrait? Consider making it a fun one, create a larrikin character, give them abeautiful beach or bush backdrop, show their lifestyle, their sport, their hobbies. Perhaps youcould weave into your composition some of our great Australian inventions like the Hills Hoist, wine casks, lamingtons, and vegemite. Think of our unique animals or our stunning flora and howyou can shoot them in a different way to tell your story. Maybe it’s our modern or interestinghistory filled architecture that has your attention, or the landscapes that show our audience “a landof sweeping plains, of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains”.
So creative people, akubras on (or possum hat), boomerangs in hand and let’s go hunting for ourbest Aussie image.
