The lecture includes a treasure trove of music & images from the vast catalog of the career of Ol' Blue Eyes. Beginning with the start of Sinatra's singing career in the 1930s, this presentation follows Frank's meteroric rise to fame in the early 1940s, his fall from grace later that decade, and his historic comeback in the 1950s. Finally, the program demonstrates how The Chairman of the Board solidified his hold on the show business world in the 1960s, '70s, and '80s. Additionally, the lecture touches on Frank's personal life - a topic which countless Americans have always been fascinated. During the program, the audience will hear many classic Sinatra recordings such as I'll Never Smile Again, Young at Heart, I've Got You Under My Skin, New York, New York, and My Way. Audience members are encouraged to sing along if they like, as the lyrics to each song will be projected on the big screen.

ASK THE NURSE
I do not like air conditioning. I do not have one nor do I want one. How can I keep cool and comfortable on a hot summer day?
A lot of folks do not like air conditioning for whatever reason, but summer can be a rough time for some and it may seem difficult to keep your house cool. When outside temperatures reach triple digits, the best thing to do may be to get out of your house until it cools off. If you cannot get to a Mall, cooling stations are located at the Library and our Senior Center.
Try to open windows and doors that allow the breeze to pass straight through your house. This is not a direct way to keep a house cool but it will draw air through to prevent the stuffy, muggy feeling that can build up inside.
You can create your own breezeway with a window fan. Open windows on parallel sides of your house and place a window fan in the sill. You can point the fan to draw air in from the outside or pull the stale air out of your house. Either way works well to keep your house cool.
Keep your shades drawn. If lights are needed throughout the day, switch to CFL (compact fluorescent) bulbs. They generate minimal heat and will save you a lot of money on your utility bill.
Drinking ice water is a good way to keep cool. It is so effective because it cools you down from the inside, dropping your core body temperature which is what is important when you want to cool off. Even using a small spray bottle filled with water and spraying your face, neck and arms will instantly cool you and the bottle is small enough to fit in your pocket.
Don’t underestimate the power of a fan. A fan distributes cool air around a room and the breeze on your skin can help you stay comfortable.
Shade is nature’s air conditioning and it does not cost a penny. Remember, a simple window shade will keep the heat out of your house.
So dear Reader, pull your shades, put your feet up and enjoy a nice glass of iced tea and if you have that little spray bottle handy, give yourself a little mist.
Peg Drummey, Stoneham Board of Health Nurse, answers your questions on health. To submit a question, check at the front desk or email [email protected].

Program Spotlight
Are You Being Asked to Switch Electric Suppliers?
If you receive a call from a company offering you a lower rate for electricity, please take care. Companies known as third party suppliers have been calling Stoneham residents (and possibly also knocking on doors), claiming to offer better electricity rates than Eversource.
While licensed to sell residents electricity, these suppliers are frequently unscrupulous. If you switch to their company, you may indeed start off with a lower rate. However, what the salesperson won't tell you is that their rates are often variable and can later skyrocket to far more than regular Eversource rates.
According to the Massachusetts Attorney General, customers usually lose money when dealing with third party suppliers.
Third party suppliers often use misleading language. They might use confusing names like “Public” or “Choice” or even falsely claim to be with Eversource.
It can be confusing because your actual electricity bill still comes from Eversource, even if you use one of these third party suppliers.
Things to Keep in Mind
Eversource does NOT call its customers offering a lower price. (If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.)
Be aware of the fine print. If considering a third party supplier, ask about rate details and termination fees. Does the contract involve a fixed or variable rate? If variable, how and when does it change? What is the length of the contract? Does it automatically renew? Is there an early termination fee?
Think ahead. Eversource's rates change every six months, with rates higher in winter and lower in summer. A one-year, fixed-rate contract with a third party supplier might offer a lower price than Eversource in winter, but that same fixed-rate might be much higher than Eversource's come summer.
Do not show a third party supplier your bill or give them your Eversource account number unless you have absolutely decided to sign up with them.
Concerned About Your Eversource Bill?
Look at your Eversource bill. If there is a supply line with a company name (not Eversource), you are signed up with a third party supplier.
If you are being overcharged, contact your supplier to learn how to end the contract. If you switched your electricity provider based on misleading information from a salesperson, you can file a consumer complaint with the Attorney General's Consumer Advocacy and Response Division.
