Round 7 was a duel gate round

and proved a tough round for our

footy sides. We came away with

3 wins out of 10 matches. Our un-

der 13 girls had a huge win

against Melton though, scoring 92

points against their 2. Well done

girls. Amazing effort!

Our netballers continue to have

success each week and going

home with 5 wins on Saturday,

2 draws and only 1 loss.

We hope you managed to watch

some of our senior footballers

play on Saturday. A very big

thank you to Brady and Keenan

from our U14’s who ran water for

our seniors. Great effort boys!

U/9 FOOTBALL

Darley vs Melton South

Match Summary: On Wednesday 30th May, our under 9s took on Melton South Panthers for

the first time and it was a very windy night.

Led brilliantly by game 6 captain Liam Collins, our team performed in-

credibly well in their first full game of playing in their positions for a full

match.

The match theme of eyes on the ball all game, and being asked to

handball and run into the wind were adhered to and resulted in some

incredibly team focussed passages of play.

We had far more handballs than kicks and slotted many goals for the

game, and managed to support the Panthers with a rotating extra play-

er each quarter.

Well done team, it was the most impressive display yet! I look forward to

seeing how we go in the next game against the all conquering Melton

Bloods Under 9s team.

A reminder that we won’t train next Monday on the public holiday, but

all are invited down to Darley Park this Saturday between 2pm and 5pm

to watch the Darley senior team take on Melton South. Totally optional

but it would be great to see many of our kids running around during

game breaks kicking the footy and guardians enjoying a social after-

noon together in the grandstand.”

Match Summary: Another slow start today which resulted in us playing

catch up footy. Although we were good in patches we

need to continue to play as a team. Our discipline let us

down and when things get hard we need to learn to

channel our energy into winning the football. Football is

a hard game, but gets easier the harder you work.

Thank you to the under 14 boys who hung around to

watch the senior play. In particularly, Keenan and Brady

who ran water for our seniors. See you all on the track.

Match Summary: Excellent effort start to finish from our senior girls. The

defensive pressure and quick ball movement was

outstanding. Eve played a very impressive game at

WD, coming out and presenting as an option for our

centre passes, she then finished strongly in centre.
