LMCST is proud of welcoming Dr. V. Syam Prakash, one of the very renowned academicians as well as an immaculate administrator with excellent management skills as the new principal. He is

an eminent academician, a reputed Structural Engineering Consultant and a dynamic personality. He has 32 years of teaching experience of which a span of about 25 years is truly devoted to research. Dr. V. Syam Prakash has graduated in Civil Engineering from TKM College of Engineering, Kollam and had his post graduation in Building Technology and Construction Management from IIT Roorkee securing Gold Medal. His Doctoral degree is from IIT Chennai. Dr. V. Syam Prakash was the Head of Civil Engineering Department at College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram, and was the Professor and Head of Extension Centre of National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) at Kalamassery for two years. He was the Principal of Government College of Engineering Kannur for two years and has retired as the Joint Director of Technical Education, Kerala.

He was instrumental in bringing a lot of developmental activities at College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram during his period of service and has been awarded the best teacher award and best researcher award in the year 2008-2009. As an administrator, wonderful contributions have been given by him to NITTTR and Government College

“KARUNYA VARSHAM”SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

In line with the “Year of Mercy” as declared by Pope Francis, Lourdes Matha Catholic Educational Society decided to give 100% tuition fee waiver to the meritorious B.Tech students for the academic year 2016-17. The scheme was named “KARUNYA VARSHAM SCHOLARSHIP (KVS) SCHEME” and was sponsored by Arch Diocese of Changanacherry. Around 250 students were appeared for the qualifying exam which was held at LMCST campus and Assumption College Changanacherry on 14th

May 2016. Among that 12 students were selected for the scholarship.

• In association with blood bank of GeneralHospital, Thiruvanathapuram, a blood donation camp was held on 10.2.2016.

• International Women’s day was celebrated bystudents of LMCST. A debate competition on “Women Empowerment” was held on 8.3.2016 from 3pm to 4pm. Students of NSS actively participated in the debate. Mr. Anish Alex Mathews of S2 CSE won the debate competition.

EQUINOX 2016 The inter college cultural and technical fest of LMCST – EQUINOX was conducted on April 7th and 8th at Tagore Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram. The cultural fest was inaugurated by film actor, Dyan Sreenivasan and the technical fest was inaugurated by Dr. S. Unnikrishnan Nair, Vice Principal, University College, Kariavattom in the presence of the Principal, Prof. James Kattady, Director, Prof. P. M. Hormese and various other dignitaries. Various technical and cultural events were conducted on both days. The main events were “Banda De Musica”, “Fascino”, “Mr. and Ms. Equinox”, “Kill the beat” , “ABCD”, “DJ war” and other technical events.
