Key considerations

• NHS (N3) to none NHS (Internet)

connectivity

• Information Governance

• Interoperability

• Functional requirements

• Separate core infrastructure from the

hospital’s IT infrastructure

NHS to none NHS

connectivity

• previous Telemedicine based upon

dedicated end point to end point ISDN

connections

• large user base who have Internet

connectivity only not N3.

• needed a solution that could bridge

connection between N3 and the Internet

securely

N3 overview

Airedale

One way only!

Information

governance

• needed to comply with the IGSoC process

by completing annual IGT, incorporating

Telehealth hub.

• all elements of IG covered including

Information Security

• finally a CESG CHECK accredited Network

Penetration test undertaken

• IGT repeated annually to provide assurance

Page 6: A. leng development of telehealth hub infrastructure in yorkshire

interoperability

• need to support multiple providers and

equipment

• align to fast moving market place as required

• platform developed using industry based

open standards: i.e. AES, SSL/TLS,

SIP,H.323/H.460 across IP network

• this allows interoperability with all vendors

and future services and developments.

functional

requirements

• quick and easy transfer of patient from

triage to clinicians if required

• virtual waiting room

• image quality for diagnostic purposes

• ease of use for the user e.g. Set Top Box

separate core

infrastructure

• minimise impact on existing Trust IT

infrastructure and applications/systems

• reliability & contingency – failover across

all core components = high availability

• allows dedicated reporting/management of

infrastructure

• scalable - future expansion readily

available without impact to the Trust.
