NTPC CMD ADDRESSES STUDENTS AT NICMAR IN PUNE

NTPC Ltd. has issued, by way of bonus, one fully paid-up, secured debenture of ̀ 12.50 each, for every one fully paid-up equity share of ̀ 10 each held by its members. The issue size of the bonus debenture is of ` 10306.83 crore and is also the biggest issue of its kind in the Country and also the first ever by any PSU.

thCMD INAUGURATES 16 NTPC QUALITY CIRCLES CONVENTION

thDr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD inaugurated the 16 thNTPC Quality Circles Convention on 14 March, 2015

organized at Faridabad. The function was graced by Shri A.K. Jha, Director (Technical), Shri U.P. Pani, Director (HR) and Shri Kulamani Biswal, Director (Finance). Executive Directors, General Managers and other senior executives were also present on this occasion.

Quality circle is a unique initiative that provides the grass root workmen a platform to voluntarily solve problems of their workplace impacting Quality, Cost, Productivity, Safety etc. through collective efforts using problem solving approach and Quality Circle tools and techniques. In all, there are more than 500 Quality Circles across NTPC plants. This annual event hosts fifteen winning teams from respective regions of NTPC and these teams compete for top three positions. The winning team 'Aqua' from NTPC, Rihand shall get an opportunity to represent NTPC at International Quality Circles Convention later this year.

NTPC-SAIL Power Company Pvt. Ltd. (NSPCL), a joint venture of two Maharatnas NTPC and SAIL, paid interim dividend of ` 80.00 crore after tax which is 8.16% of equity capital for financial year 2014-15. Shri Manash Sarkar, CEO, NSPCL and Shri S.V. Shahi, CFO, NSPCL presented a dividend cheque of ̀ 40.00 crore to Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC in the presence of Directors of NTPC in New Delhi.

NSPCL has been a dividend paying company ever since its inception in March 2001.

Company recorded a total income of ` 1669.04 crore during April-December’2014 with profit before tax (PBT) at ̀ 174.45 crore

Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC Limited, has the rare distinction of

serving the country’s public sector as a CMD for 14 years in a row since he

was first selected to lead another undertaking, NBCC Limited, in 2001.

Dr. Roy Choudhury not only turned around NBCC, but made it one of the

best performing public enterprises. By the time he left NBCC, the

company earned a place among the top 10 central public sector

enterprises. He was only 44, the youngest person to be CMD in any

central public sector undertaking in 2001.

Shri R.K.S. Gahlowt, CEO, Utility Powertech Limited (UPL) presented an interim dividend cheque of ̀ 2,50,00,000 for the year 2014-15, as NTPC share to Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC. Shri U.P. SIGNING OF ALLOTMENT AGREEMENT FOR COAL BLOCKS

Subsequent to the declaration of allocation of Chatti-Bariatu & Chatti-Bariatu (South), Kerandari, Dulanga and

thTalaipalli coal blocks to NTPC on 24 March, 2015, Allotment Agreement for these coal blocks were signed

thbetween NTPC and Nominated Authority on 30 March, 2015.

MEJA UNIT-I GEN STATOR LIFTEDMeja Thermal Power Project located on the bank of river Tauns, a tributary of river

thGanga achieved a major milestone by lifting of Unit-I Gen Stator on 24 March, 2015 (13:30 hrs).

The Project belongs to Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL) a joint venture between NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUN). The capacity of the plant is

1320 MW (2x660MW) based on super critical technology. Coal for the project shall be sourced from SECL, Bilaspur and water from Ganga River through pipeline. The power from the station will be

supplied to the state of Uttar Pradesh.

28TH NTPC SAFETY OFFICERS' CONFERENCE

th rd28 Safety Officers' Conference was held on 23 March, 2015 at PMI, Noida. The conference was inaugurated by Shri K.K. Sharma, Director (Operations) and Shri Y.V. Rao, Executive Director (OS). Heads of Safety from all NTPC Projects, Stations, Joint Ventures and Regional Safety Co-ordinators from all Regional Head Quarters participated in the conference.

Director (Operations) in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of safety in all activities and advised all Safety Officers to be more active in identifying the hazards, their elimination or control.

Ramagundam received the Certificate of Appreciable Achievement in Occupational Safety &

thHealth by National Safety Council of India on 4 th March, 2015 on the occasion of 44 National Safety

Day Celebration. At a function held in Hyderabad, Shri R.K. Srivastava, ED-Ramagundam received the award from Shri Naini Narshimha Reddy, Hon'ble Minister for Home, Prisons, Fire Services, Sainik Welfare, Labour & Employment, Government of Telangana.

NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL AWARD TO RAMAGUNDAM

PPA WITH AP POWER UTILITES FOR

ULTRA MEGA SOLAR PROJECT (250 MWP)

NTPC Limited and the Andhra Pradesh power utilities Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited

(APEPDCL) and Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) signed a Power Purchase

Agreement (PPA) for procurement of power to be generated from the 250 MW solar power plant, the first phase of the

1,000 MW ultra solar power project being set up by NTPC in Anatapur District in Andhra Pradesh. The PPA was signed in the

presence of Shri I.J. Kapoor, Director (Commercial), NTPC, Shri Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy, Govt. of AP, Shri Vijayanand, CMD, thAPTRANSCO, Shri R. Venkateswaran, RED (South) in Hyderabad on 24 April, 2015. Shri I.J. Kapoor, Director (Commercial)

informed that the EPC contract for Phase-I 250 MWp (5x50 MWp indigenous modules) will be awarded shortly. The land

required for the first phase project was already made available to the company by the state government. The Company plans

to install 3000 MW of solar PV capacity during the financial year in addition to the existing installed capacity of 110 MW

through solar, Shri Kapoor said.

In September last year NTPC had signed MoU with AP government for the development of 1,000 MW solar project, which is

the largest solar power project at a single location by a single developer, in the state.

SECURITY REVIEW

Security in NTPC was reviewed during a meeting between Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC and Shri Arvind Ranjan, IPS, DG, thCISF at CISF HQ, New Delhi on 4 March, 2015. Shri U.P. Pani, Director (HR) and Shri S.N. Panigrahi, AGM (HR-S&C) accompanied the

CMD. Shri Ved Prakash, IG (Admn.), Shri A.K. Singh, IPS, IG (NS), Ms. Shikha Goel, IPS, DIG (Pers.), Ms. Ritu Arora, IPS, DIG (I&P), Shri Sudhir Kumar, DIG (Admn.) and Shri Sumant Singh, AIG (Tech. & Comn.) were also present.

Many significant issues pertaining to enhancement of quality of service including advanced training, technological up-gradation in security preparedness and rationalization of CISF manpower were discussed in the context of the current challenges.

The online news magazine of NTPC Western Region-I Headquarters 'e-paschim varta' bagged the gold award at

ththe PRCI's (Public Relations Council of India) 9 Global thConclave on 14 March, 2015. The in-house journal of

western region 'Paschim Prakash' also won the consolation prize in the Indian language in-house journal category. Shri K. Ravindran, AGM (PR), WR-I HQ and Smt. Kriti Dutta, Dy. Manager (PR), WR-I HQ received the award. The theme of the conclave was 'Communication to Connect'. Other companies to win the collateral awards include Coca Cola, TAFE, IDBI Bank, Indian Oil, Canara Bank, Mahindra Logistics to name a few.

DR. RAMAN SINGH INAUGURATES NTPC-ITI AT KORBA

Dr. Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh inaugurated the newly-built Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at a ceremony in

ndKorba on 22 April, 2015. Built over an area of 10 acres at Chorbhati village near Korba in the vicinity of the NTPC power station, the ITI is all set to start the sessions from this academic calendar. ITI has been constructed as part of Community Development initiatives of NTPC.

About `10 crore has been invested in the project for skill development. Initially five trades- Welder, Fitter, Instrumentation & Mechanics, Electrician and Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) are part of the curriculum.

The Chief Minister also visited the campus and interacted with the stake-holders of the new ITI on this occasion. Leading dignitaries of Korba Region, officials of the Chhattisgarh State Govt., Distt. Administration and NTPC were present on the occasion.

Club, NTPC, Noida.

Smt. Sharmila Roy Choudhury, President, Saheli Club, Noida, Smt. Sabina Kapoor, Smt. Nisha Jha, Smt. Geeta Pani, Smt. Nalini Pandey, Smt. Minati Swain, Smt. Naina Sharma and other senior ladies from Saheli Club, Sanyukta Mahila Samiti and Bal Bhawan Samiti were present.

Members enthusiastically participated in the cooking competition and bindi designing competition which was followed by a cultural program and housie.

Shri Kulamani Biswal, Director (Finance), visited Dadri on 10

April, 2015. In an interactive session with SMC Members, Shri

Biswal replied to various queries of participants related to

financial and other issues. Shri D.K. Sood, Executive Director

(Dadri), Head of Departments and senior officials were also

present during the programme. He also visited the Eco Park and

Golf Course in the station premises.

emerged winner amongst 32 teams participated in the All Odisha QC rd thCovention sponsored by NALCO, Bhubaneswar held on 23 -24 April, 2015.

This is the first time any NTPC team has won in the 20 years of All Odisha QC

Covention. "LAXMI" QC of F&A Dept. also won best presentation award at

the event.

His Excellency Shri Konijeti Rosaiah, Governor of thTamilnadu visited NTECL Township on 18 April, 2015. He

was received by Shri Thomas Joseph, CEO-NTECL.

Shri S.C. Pandey, Director (Projects) visited Vindhyachal for review of construction activities of Stage-V, Unit

# 13 which is scheduled for synchronization in October, 2015. He was accompanied by Shri Saptarshi Roy,

RED (North) and Shri S.K. Roy, ED - Vindhyachal. During the visit, he inaugurated the Switch Yard Auxilliary

Power Supply Building in Stage-V and the Permanent Stores Building in Stage-IV area.

KARNATAKA ENERGY MINISTER VISITS KUDGI

Shri D.K. Shivakumar, Hon'ble Minister for Energy,

Government of Karnataka visited the Kudgi Super Thermal

power project recently. On arrival at the site the Hon'ble

Minister was accorded a warm welcome by Shri G.J.

Deshpande, Regional Executive Director (West-I), NTPC

and Shri Balaji Iyengar, Group General Manager, Kudgi. Shri

M.B. Jayaram, Advisor & Local District Administration

officials were also present. The Hon'ble Minister reviewed

the project implementation and visited the main plant

areas.

An awareness programme on usage of ash generated from power thplants was organised by NTPC, Eastern Region-I Hqs, Patna on 9

April, 2015. A presentation was made by NTPC on usage of fly ash in various areas and ash utilisation scenario in NTPC. The programme was chaired by Shri Vivek Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary (MOEF), Government of Bihar.

Shri K.S. Garbyal, RED (East-I) focused on promoting use of fly ash and ash based products in various activities, which in turn will help in creating greener Bihar. Shri B.A. Khan, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Prof. S.C. The Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (AAQMS) and Panchayat Buildings at Athipattu constructed under CSR/CD Scheme by NTECL-Vallur Thermal Power Plant was inaugurated by Shri K.K. Sharma, Director (Operations),

As a part of its community development works, NTECL has constructed various public utility buildings such as Panchayat Building and Community Hall in villages Athipattu, Kondakarai and Vichoor at a cost of about ̀ 1.6 Crore.The Long service Award ceremony for employees who have completed 25 years of service in NTPC was also held and Shri K.K. The Unit-I of 195 MW of Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station, Stage-II of Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited (A subsidiary company of NTPC Ltd.) has been

stcommissioned on 31 March, 2015.

With this, the total installed capacity of Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station has become 415 MW.
