Weekend and nighttime emergency for Sacrament of Anointing of the Dying & Viaticum (Last Rites)

631-667-4044 Ext. # 9

Dear parishioners and friends in Christ,

Once again, my thanks to Deacon Phil Mills and his Festival Committee members for all of their hard work in planning and overseeing this huge un-dertaking and also to all of the many Volunteers who so generously shared their “time & talent” during the five days of our Family Festival last week. Special thanks to the Suffolk County Police Department for their very visible presence. And thanks to all of you, who along with our friends and neighbors in the sur-rounding communities who supported the Festival.

Our excellent Parochial Catholic Elementary School is currently accepting registrations for the fall academic semester. New families are especially en-couraged to make an appointment to visit our wonder-ful Parish School. Transfer students are always wel-come. Come and see for yourself what a Catholic Ele-mentary School Education can offer your child.

Registration for our Parish Religious Educa-tion Program is also currently underway. Please pass the word to parents of school aged children to register as soon as possible so that we can plan for the new school year. Our Director of Religious Education, Ms. Laucella is currently in Ireland with a delegation of Long Islanders representing our Diocese at the inter-national gathering of families with Pope Francis.

The sexual abuse of children is a horrific sin and crime. Please consult our Diocesan website www.drvc.org for the official statement regarding the Pennsylvania Grand July Report. In addition, Bishop Barres has taped a television program to be aired on Telecare our Diocesan Cable channel. Please see page two ( 2 ) of this bulletin for dates and times of the presentation which Bishop Barres describes as “explanatory, but at the same time very personal.”

I plan to take a few weeks this September for my summer vacation. Fathers Moise Aime (ex 120) and Patrick Grace (ex 166) are available to assist you.

Please remember that there will only be one (1) Mass on the Labor Day Holiday itself, Septem-ber 3rd, at 9:00 a.m. All parish offices will be closed.

Enjoy what’s left of your summer and take some time to relax, to be refreshed, and to be renewed by the marvels of God’s Creation.

Have a great week and God bless you!

Monsignor Bob Clerkin

In today’s reading, Joshua challenges the peo-ple to decide whom they will serve. Recalling God’s faithfulness to them and to their ances-tors, the people declare, “We also will serve the Lord, for He is our God.” We, too, must be mindful of God’s gifts to us and renew our com-mitment to serve Him with grateful hearts.

These days, everyone likes to shop on the internet. Amazon has a program that allows you to support The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in our Parish. For qualifying purchases, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to our confer-ence. In turn, we can use these funds to assist our neighbors in need, and you are able to support our mission without paying any money out of your pocket - the classic win/win situation. This program is offered only through purchases made at smile.amazon.com, which is a full service Amazon site. Enter the "Central Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul" as the charity you would like to support, and then under that, please be sure to select "Deer Park" as the location. We thank you in advance for supporting our mission through this program.

The next conference meeting will be held on September 5, 2018, at 7:15 p.m. in the Senior Center.
