From the g eologis t 's v iewpoint, thebasic c lay mineral la t t ice , which is inherited from the source materia l , is the most s ignifi-can t pa ram ete r o f the c lay minera ls and m odif ica tions caused by the adsorbed ca t ions a resecondary, derived parameters reflecting the character of the deposit ional environment.
