Police Believe an arguement over money led to theshooting death of an Oakland Township man earlySunday morning.

The man, Roger Griffin, 31, died after being shotwith a double barrel shotgun at his residence at1615 Predmore Road in the township's northernportion, according to officers at the MichiganState Police Post in Romeo.

A 15-year-old youth was taken into custody at thescene and transported to Children's Village inPontiac.

Funeral services were held Friday evening in the home at 276 Drexel,Detroit, for Clarence Walter Houghton, who passed away suddenlyWednesday, Jan. 6, with a heart attack while at Work for the PackardMotor Companv in Detroit.

The body was brought to Cass City Saturday morning and a brief serviceconducted by Rev. Charles Bayless, pastor of the Methodist Episcopalchurch, was held in the chapel at Elkland cemetery.

Clarence Walter Houghton was born in Oakland county, Jan. 26, 1872, andwas a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abram Houghton. He was united inmarriage with Miss Mabel Snell in the fall of 1896 near Cass City andthey made their home on a farm, 2 1/2 miles south and 1/2 mile east ofCass City. A few years later they moved to Ruth where he went into theharness business.

The last 21 years have been spent in Detroit where Mr. Houghton workedfor the Packard company. MRS, CELIA SNELL ---------------For Thirty Years a Resident in and near Cass City. ---------------The funeral services of Mrs. Celia Snell, who died on Saturday, April 8,were held from the M. E. church on Wednesday at 10 a. m. Interment wasmade in Elkland cemetery.

Celia Mudge was born October 20, 1852, at Monroe, Michigan. She wasmarried to Hezekiah Snell at Tyre on February 1, 1873. The family havemade their home at various places but for the past thirty years havelived in or near Cass City, so the deceased is no stranger to people ofthis vicinity. Mr. Snell died 13 years ago at Minden City but his bodyis interred in Elkland cemetery. Seven children were born to Mr. andMrs. Snell, six of whom are living. They are Mrs. C. W. Houghton, Mrs.C. A. Fay and Mrs. John Atfield of Detroit, Mrs. W. R. Weber of MindenCity, Mrs. A. H. Stone of Gilford and Roy Snell, who with the mother,had recently moved to the Levi Bardwell farm, where Mrs. Snell's deathoccurred.

Deceased has been a faithful attendant of the M. E. church and was akind and willing neighbor and friend, who is mourned by a host offriends as well as her fami!y. Two sisters, Mrs. Phillips and Mrs.Thibodeau, of Marine City survive her.

At the time, Rebecca was described as "a lewd, ignorantand considerably aged woman." She had the misfortune to be married toa third time to Nathaniel. He had been charged for stealing smallthings, for lying in Court and of battery, but he had also accumulatedquite a lot of property, which had caused criticism and animosity inthe community. In CT, all the cases where the condemned were executedoccurred between 1647 and 1662. Of the 17 charged with witchcraftduring this period, 9 were residents of Hartford. Three (3) of thesewere executed.
