Our motivation is driven by theobjective of providing a platformfor local people to tell their story. This is about inspiring optimismand building on it, resetting andreaching new goals, breaking theceiling and sharing the rewards ofour efforts.
Our goal is a more unified andintegrated approach to problemsolving and relationship building. One that powers more people intopositions of understanding, leadership and influence.
Aimed at wider civic, communityand political society this series ofpanel discussions will provide anopportunity for interactionbeyond the headlines. Expectmore than an exclusive or twoacross the full spectrum ofopinion, analysis and history.
The ongoing political stalematecreates a window for change and
the opportunity to do thingsdifferently and, hopefully, better. One thing is clear we are all surethat things do not go back to howthey once were.
Each panel will consolidate theexperiences and viewpoints ofactivists and campaigners fromthe GFA period with those who areseeking to rationalise similarissues today.
Thematic panel discussions:1 Legacy & Reconciliation 2 Peace Dividend - A Balanced
Economy3 Rights Based Society 4 The Next Generation
Panels will be interspersed withkeynote addresses from many ofthe Agreement’s leadingarchitects. We have somefabulous sessions and talents tocarry us forward. There’s plenty tobe excited about.
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement and the 30thanniversary of Féile an Phobail. Many good things have emerged includingground breaking policies promoting peace and a raft of new initiatives aimedat tackling disadvantage, advancing good relations, securing prosperitythrough the arts and culture.
Increased interaction and a growing convergence in public and communityengagement continue apace. As we approach each anniversary no one deniesthe difficulties, the delayed projects and the harsh words, but hopecontinues. There is no pulling back the social, economic and environmentalchanges that are shaping our lives today.
Against this backdrop, the Féile an Phobail Debates and Discussioncommittee invited a mix of community, political and business champions toexplore a number of key themes and to examine how further gains can bemade.
