We invite you to UPCea’s 99th annual Conference in miami: own the moment! you might ask why “own The moment?” We are at a critical juncture in the evolution of higher education. as leaders in the field of professional, continuing, and online education, we have an unprecedented opportunity to make our mission – vital to the success of the overall mission, vision, and strategic goals of our institutions. if our units do not “own The moment,” our institutions will suffer and higher education as a whole will not meet its obligation to transform itself to meet the needs of today’s society. as our presidents and provosts become more aware of our value to the larger institution we serve – the entrepreneurial spirit we possess, the innovative techniques and practices we implement, the risk taking environment we are accustomed to working within, and the exceptional leadership that we pro-vide – we have tremendous opportunities to own the moment! in other words, the time for action is now! The UPCea 2014 annual Conference is your opportunity to become more en-gaged and committed to the field of professional, continuing, and online education. miami will be the place to be on march 26–28, 2014. it is a city alive with diverse cultures, food, historical attrac-tions, architectural sights, bountiful waterways and beaches, and gorgeous sunsets. networking with your colleagues, both new and old, couldn’t get any better than in miami! i am looking forward to seeing you in miami in march.
alice S. Warrennorth Carolina State University Chair, 2014 UPCea annual Conference advisory Committee
