WEIGHT-GAINING CLASSES OFFERED! Sunday night was a special treat as we had the opportunity to hear Mike Treadway, Kim Bledsoe, and Magan Stubblefield in concert. As Mike was introducing Kim and Magan, he made the comment that the closest thing they had as to giving their group a name was at Middlesettlements UMC when they were presented to the church as “Mike and the Boys?” Wow, what a blessed surprise they received when these three emerged from the congregation. We can miss a lot when we don’t know the facts. This can be true in many walks of life and especially for the uninformed Christian. Someone told me years ago that the Lord is looking for FAT disciples! Now, before you go out and eat a Snickers bar, allow me to clarify. FAT is an acronym for Faithful, Available, and Teachable. We are to be faithful to the Lord and the life-changing message He has entrusted to us. A person who is faithful will not shirk his responsibilities - he will not go AWOL when the going gets tough. This person will stand up and be counted, regardless of the circumstances. Are you faithful? Are you available? Are you ready in season and out of season for the Lord? When God asks you to do something, to go out of your way to talk to someone about Jesus, are you available to do His will, or does your agenda trump His? And how about teachable? A teachable person is open to correction and rebuke. A teachable person says, “I don’t have this all figured out. I have lots of room to learn and grow. Teach me, Lord!” Without a doubt, we are to be FAT disciples and invest our lives helping others become FAT disciples so that together we can reach the world for Jesus, one heart at a time. Having said that, let us help you “gain weight”....has anyone ever said that to you before?! Beginning the 8th of September, we’ll be cranking up opportunities for you to grow into FAT Disciples. Get involved in our Bible Studies for the Fall Semester. There’s a FAT person in all of us just waiting to burst out! Nby4
