Italian meals have changed very little overthe centuries, especially in the fertile foothillsof Piedmont, where the Slow FoodMovement took shape in the 1980s. Savoring meals with family andfriends is central to the philosophy. As youtaste these exquisite foods and sit down to lovingly prepared meals, the meaning ofSlow Food will reveal itself with every bite.

In Italy, good food and wine go hand inhand. The Greeks introduced wine to theregion, and the Etruscans in central Italyturned wine making into an art form. You will also encounter“Super-Tuscans” like Sangiovese, boldAmarone wines from the northeast, aromatic Pinot Grigio and easy-drinking,affordable, fruit-forward “table wines” in family-run trattorias along the way.
