40th Annual Production SaleWelcome to 7P Ranch’s 40th Annual Fall Production Sale.

We are offering Black and Red purebred Simmental and SimAngus bulls and bred females. Thebulls offered are from yearling to 23 months and all are fertility tested. Pregnancy status on all 7Pfemales offered will be determined by ultrasound. All test will be performed by our licensed veterinarian Dr. Adam Byrd.

We are also offering a very select group of our home raised F-1 Braford females. The majority ofthese females will be bred A.I. to top Angus A.I. sires and will start calving two weeks after the sale.

Our breeding program consist of synchronizing all of our heifers and cows. We breed off of visualized standing heats and then we observe the cattle until their next heat cycle and then A.I.those that come in heat a second time. Three to five days after their second cycle, we turn themin with the herd bull. Those females that do not have a second visualized heat cycle are turned inwith the herd bulls and are not bred A.I. (no timed A.I.). We make a real effort to call the due datescorrectly as possible.

You will note a real disparity in the weaning weights between the spring born and fall born cattle.We do NO creep feeding and we had a bad drought for the spring born cattle and a wonderful wetspring for our fall born cattle.

I truly believe this is the best set of cattle offered by 7P and actually it should be; hopefully we aregetting better after 40 years of trying.

We are again pleased to offer cattle from our friends Tommy Goodwin with TAG Simmentals andPaul Bayer with Alfred Bayer & Son. Both of these operations share our commitment to producinggood honest cattle.

Everyone will be able to view the cattle on Friday afternoon, October 30th. Our sale day BBQ lunchwill be served at 12:00 noon and the sale will begin at 1:00 p.m.

The following suggestions are offered as possible terms and conditions of sale to be agreedupon before the sale of 7P Ranch cattle. It recognizes that these suggestions may not be mu-tually agreeable and are not intended as a substitute for competent legal advice.

BIDDING AND APPLICABLE LAW:All cattle listed in this offering comply with prevailing sale terms and conditions as set forthby the laws of the state wherein the sale is conducted. There are no warranties, express orimplied, by either the auctioneer or consignor, except as set forth herein, as to the mer-chantability of fitness for any particular purpose of any animal offered in this sale. The rightto bid or the right to reject the final bid, if done before the hammer falls, is reserved for allsellers unless otherwise announced from the sale block or as prohibited by law in the statewherein the sale is being conducted.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:Any change of information other than in the catalog will be announced from the auctionblock and such announcements shall take precedence over printed material. All statementsmade from the auction block or those made by the seller (in private treaty) must be docu-mented by seller if requested by the buyer at time of sale.

TERMS:Terms of sale are cash unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made with theseller previous to the sale of any animal so affected.

PURCHASER'S RISK:Each animal becomes the property of and therefore is also the risk of the purchaser assoon as it is sold; except it shall be the obligation of the seller to see that animals are fedand cared for free of charge to purchaser, until loaded for shipment or until the expirationof twenty four (24) hours after the sale, whichever occurs first.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:1. All cattle entered for sale must meet the health regulation of the state in which they aresold. All other agreements regarding the health of the animal will be between the buyer andseller and should be documented in writing. 2. If sale cattle are returned to the seller for an adjustment, they must meet the health re-quirements of the state they are returned to.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY:Each animal which is catalogued, offered, and sold as a registered animal shall have a cer-tificate of registry available at time of sale. When an animal is sold as "eligible for registry"or "registry applied for", the seller shall be responsible for obtaining the certificate of reg-istry and for the proper transfer of the certificate to the purchaser including full payment of transfer fees.

IDENTIFICATION:Each animal at time of sale must have a readable tattoo or brand corresponding to thatshown on the certificate of registration.

AUTHENTICITY OF PEDIGREE:When an animal, through blood-typing, is determined to have ancestry other than that re-ported on the registration certificate, the buyer shall be entitled to a refund of the purchaseprice from the seller upon return of the animal to the farm of the seller at the seller's ex-pense. The animal in question at the buyer's option may exchange for another animal ofequal value, or if agreeable with the buyer, the seller may have the certificate returned to thebuyer. Any adjustment provided herein, if selected, shall absolve the seller form further lia-bility for authenticity of pedigree to the buyer.

BREEDING GUARANTEES AND DEFINITIONS:1. Females are guaranteed to be breeders, with the exception of:

a. Female calves sold at side of damb. Injury or disease occurring to the animal after time of salec. Gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaserd. Females used in ovum transplant after time of salee. Cows sold with calf at side or female that calves after sale to a breeding prior to the date of sale

2. Bulls are guaranteed to be breeders (defined as the ability to settle healthy cows by thetime the bull is 18 months of age) with the exception of:

a. Bull calves sold at side of dam b. Injury or disease occurring to the animal after time of salec. Gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaserd. Bulls shown competitively after sale

3. Any guarantees with respect to the ability to freeze semen shall be made by separateagreement between the buyer and seller. 4. Safe in calf females are females that have been diagnosed pregnant by a competent veteri-narian and are pregnant at time of sale. 5. A bred female is a female known to have been served by a bull either by natural breeding

or artificial insemination, but it does not necessarily mean that the female is safe in calf tothat service. 6. A pasture-bred female is a female that has been pastured with a designated bull and hasbeen exposed for the time stated, but it does not necessarily mean that this female is safe incalf to that bull. 7. An open heifer is a virgin heifer that has never been exposed to a bull either through nat-ural service or artificial insemination. 8. An open cow is a cow that has not been exposed to a bull either through natural serviceor artificial insemination. 9. Calves sold off their dams (split pairs) shall carry the full breeding guarantee.

PRIVILEGE OF PURCHASER TO EXAMINE:The purchaser of a female animal may have her examined within one week after the sale.The pregnancy status or breeding status of any female so examined, when found not to beas represented at the time of sale, is cause for the female to be returned to the seller as un-sold.

EMBRYO TRANSFER:1. Sellers should provide upon request a complete history of embryo transfer activity forany female offered for sale. 2. Polled/Scurred - An animal with rudimentary horn growth that will not develop intoa horn. The rudimentary horn growth may or may not become affixed to the skull at anolder age.3. Polled - An animal with absence of horn growth. (An animal can have scurs and still begenetically polled.) 4. Smooth Polled - A smooth-polled individual has no scurs and does not develop scurslater in life.

GUARANTEES:1. If an animal is sold as polled or polled/scurred and proves to be horned, the seller shallbe obligated to refund the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of theseller at the expense of the seller or may be exchanged for a polled animal of equal value,whichever is acceptable to the buyer. The buyer has thirty (30) days from date of sale to no-tify the seller that an adjustment is in order. 2. If an animal is sold as polled and has scurs, the seller will not be obligated to make anyadjustments as a scurred animal is considered polled. 3. If an animal is sold as polled and has scurs, it shall be so announced at the time of salethat the animal has scurs. If it is not announced and the buyer finds before the animalleaves the premises that the animal has scurs, the buyer must notify the seller of the find-ings. The seller shall then be obligated to refund the purchase price

OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT:The following adjustments do not preclude the right of the buyer and seller to mutuallyagree upon other terms and conditions for settlement of any dispute: 1. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing either within six (6) monthsfrom the date of sale or no later than when the animal reaches 24 months of age whicheveroccurs later, with the exception of claims involving mis-representation of service sire or asotherwise provided herein. 2. In the event an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to thefarm of the seller, at buyer's expense if in good physical condition, and the return is in com-pliance with the health requirements of the seller's state. The seller shall be entitled to a six(6) month trial period following the return of the animal in which to prove the animal is abreeder. If at the end of six (6) months the seller is unable to prove the animal is a breeder,the seller shall, at the option of the buyer, replace the animal with another of equal value orrefund the purchase price. Either option shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement. 3. If a female is sold as "safe in calf" to a given sire or sires on a specified date or dates andproves not to be as represented, the buyer is entitled to a refund of the purchase price fromthe seller upon return of the animal and resulting progeny thereof to the farm of the sellerat the seller's expense. 4. If a female is sold as "open" and proves to be with calf at the time of sale and examinedpregnant within sixty (60) days after sale, the buyer may return said female for the pur-chase price or for another animal of equal value, whichever is acceptable to the buyer. Itshall be the obligation of the seller to bear any expenses incurred for transportation of theanimal in question to the farm of the seller.

LIMITATION OF OBLIGATIONS:If the aforementioned suggested terms and conditions are adopted, they should constitute acontract between the buyer and seller for each animal sold under these terms, and as such,should be binding upon both parties. Animals resold following purchase in a sale shall con-stitute a separate transaction and the privileges and obligations of the original two partiesconnected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of the sale.

HERD HEALTHAll cattle will sell with proper interstate health papers. Allfemales were calfhood vaccinated. All sale cattle have beenvaccinated with IBR, BVD, P13, Vibro Letpo 5, and eight-wayblack-leg. All bulls have been fertility checked and all heifersare reproduction tract examined. All sell guaranteed breed-ers. All eligible cattle will be brucellosis tested.

BULL CAREYour yearling bull is a major investment. Experience hasshown us that yearling bulls can function very well evenunder harsh environments. You can count on them to breed20-25 females depending on the conditions. We have thefollowing recommendations:1. If possible, run your yearling bulls separate from olderbulls during their first breeding season.2. Make sure that your bulls gain weight in the fall after thebreeding season before winter.3. Feed energy supplementation (grain) beyond simplygrass and protein to your yearling bulls. Avoid feeding theyoung bulls in the same pasture with older or horned bulls.

SIMMENTAL EPD EXPLANATIONSCalving Ease Direct (CE-H) - predicts the average differencein ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when bredto first-calf heifers. Expressed as percentage of unassistedbirths with a HIGHER value indicating greater calving ease.

Birth Weight (BW) - expressed in pounds and predicts theaverage difference that can be expected in an animal’s off-spring when compared with another animal in the same ge-netic evaluation. The LOWER the number the better here.

Weaning Weight (WW) - expressed in pounds and pre-dicts the average difference in weight that can be expectedbetween the progeny of animals in the same genetic evalua-tion of 205 days of age. The HIGHER the WW number, themore pounds weaned.

Yearling Weight (YW) - like Birth and Weaning WeightEPDs, Yearling Weight EPDs are expressed in pounds andpredict the average differences that can be expected be-tween progeny of animals at one year of age. Like weaningweight, the HIGHER the number, the more pounds at year-ling time.

Maternal Calving Ease (MC) - predicts the average easewith which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heiferscompared to the daughters of another sire in the same eval-uation. Expressed as percentage of unassisted births. AHIGHER number here indicates a higher percentage ofunassisted births.

Maternal Milk (MM) - expressed as pound of calf weanedby a bull’s daughters. Reflects the average differences inweaning weight than can be expected in grandprogeny dueto the milking ability of a bull’s daughters.

Maternal Weaning Weight (MW) - this EPD value pre-dicts the difference in average 205-day weight of a bull’sdaughters’ calves compared to calves from daughters of allother bulls evaluated. The evaluation reflects both the ma-ternal ability of the bull’s daughters and the growth poten-tial of their calves. When comparing maternal weaningweight EPDs of two sires, the larger maternal weaningweight EPD indicates heavier weaning weights due to thedaughters’ ability to produce heavier calves. Maternal Wean-ing Weight EPD is calculated by: MWW EPD = MMK EPD +0.5 (WW EPD).

EPDS FOR CARCASS TRAITSExplanations of the ultrasound measurements are as fol-lows:

Marbling (MB)The difference in marbling score expected in a bull’s off-spring compared to the offspring of other bulls in the pop-ulation.

Yield Grade (YG)The difference in yield grade expected in a bull’s offspringcompared to the offspring of other bulls in the population.Next sire summary YG EPD’s will be used. These are figuredby dividing the percent of retail cuts EPDs by -2.3.

Carcass Weight (CW)The difference in carcass weight expected in a bull’s off-spring compared to the offspring of other bulls in the pop-ulation.

All-Purpose Index (API)Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to bothAngus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portionof their daughters required to maintain herd size retainedand the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and soldgrade and yield.

Terminal Index (TI)Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all off-spring put on feed and sold grade and yield.
