TASA Dasara 2007 Program-Report

The program started off with a get-together and registrations followed by the ever popular and delicious dinner. The cultural program was MC’d by Mrs. Sailaja Tamtam. The program began with a fine rendering of “Ganesha Prardhana” by Telugu Badi students. The Telugu Badi students also presented a hilarious drama “Baamma gari America Prayaanam”. More than 15 students participated in this drama which comically depicted the various scenes such as “Ganesha Pooja” before embarking on the journey; “Baamma gari vegetarian bhojanam”; “Baamma gari Suprabhatam paatalu”; and the funny conversations between “Baamma garu and the flight attendants”. Overall, the telugu Badi students did a wonderful job in presenting this drama. By the way, the telugu badi students are coming up with a sequel to this drama in future. Chy. Greeshma Reddy entertained every one with her fast dance steps to one of the latest telugu songs. In between various cultural items, the MC, Mrs. Shailaja Tamtam quizzed and entertained the audience on “podupu kathalu” and other items. She also gave a few prizes to the winners of “podupu kathalu”. Every one in the audience enjoyed this interactive type of activity. 2007 Dasara was a very well attended program. During the middle of the program TASA President Mr. Venkatesh Adivi along with the Executive committee members presented a report of 2007 TASA activities to the General body (GBM). Mr. Venkatesh highlighted the TASA activities such as fundraising for scholarships, charitable activities, Telugu Badi and others. TASA presented scholarships to telugu kids (Pavan Patamalla, Abhinav Sangisetti and Aditya Mummidi) for their achievements during the North South Foundation educational contests held in April 2007. Mr. Venkatesh also introduced the new Working Group members. Mr. Sreeram Padala, Treasurer presented the financial details to GBM. Finally, Mr. Chandrasekhar Reddy Meka presented the vote-of-thanks.
