Boyce Farmers Market
Recognized as one of Canada’s top 10 community markets, the Fredericton Boyce Farm-
ers Market is the City’s traditional Saturday morning (6am-1pm) gathering spot down-
town for fresh and healthy foods, craft, creativity and conversation. With more than 250
indoor and outdoor local suppliers from along the St. John River Heritage Corridor and
across the Province, The Market (as it’s known locally) is the place to discover seasonal
products like fiddleheads and blueberries, ultra-fresh produce, meats & seafood, cakes &
confections, breads, cheeses & homemade jams, fresh-squeezed juices & New Brunswick
wines, artisan chocolates, specialty coffees & beans and much, much more.
Beaverbrook Art Gallery
This Gallery houses one of Canada’s most impressive and varied art collections. Through-
out the International Wing, you’ll find collections of masterworks by artists such as Luci-
an Freud, J. M.W. Turner, and Eugène Boudin, while in the Canadian and Atlantic Gal-
leries, you can see works by Mary Pratt, Emily Carr, Bruno Bobak and Molly Lamb
Bobak, as well as the Wolastoqiyik Grandfather Akwiten canoe. Explore the expanded
pavilion, where you’ll find soaring, 20-foot ceilings and vistas of Fredericton’s natural
beauty among the art, culminating in a breathtaking view of Salvador Dali’s 4-metre San-
tiago el Grande in its own gallery space.
Enjoy A Craft Brew
Fredericton is considered the ultimate destination in this capacity as it has the highest
concentration of craft producers and experiences in Atlantic Canada! Visit one of the
many award winning cideries or breweries dotted around the city. From chill fireside
lounging at Graystone, to the live music venue at Grimross – Fredericton has a variety of
open door atmospheres to match your very own vibe.
Odell Park
With trees that are over 400 years old, and trails both on and off the beaten path –this is
the perfect place to get your daily fill of fresh air. Forest Bathing at its finest! Looking for
something more? Take a tour of the tree frogs at Hyla Park or the Beaver Pond at Mac-
taquac Provincial Park.
Daily Changing of the Guard Ceremony on the Grounds of the New Bruns-wick Legislature
No trip to Fredericton is complete without this experience! Catch a free outdoor movie
under the night sky, every Saturday in Barracks Square. At the same location, there will
be free outdoor concerts every Tuesday evening at 7:30pm. Plenty for you to enjoy this
without spending a dime!
St. Anne’s Chapel of Ease
St. Anne's Chapel of Ease has not been modified since the day on which it was consecrat-
ed, March 18, 1847. A tour of the building reveals Gothic Revival architecture reminis-
cent of the time of Henry III in the thirteenth century. The sandstone on the Chapel exte-
rior, the hardstone buttresses, and the trim came from New Brunswick, as did the butter-
nut that was used for most of the interior woodwork. See the symbolic tiles in the sanctu-
ary floor, and a freestone arch and butternut screen separating the chancel and the nave.

REPEATED on SATURDAY, JUNE 6
Nashwaaksis A Room, FCC / Mobile Lab (rear parking lot, Crowne Plaza Hotel)
Course Director Dr. Marc Tewfik, Montreal
Guest Faculty Dr. Philip Chen, San Antonio, TX Faculty Dr. Yvonne Chan, Toronto Dr. Lamiae Himdi, Montreal Dr. Richard Gall, Winnipeg Dr. Arif Janjua, Vancouver Dr. John Lee, Toronto Dr. John Scott, Halifax Dr. Doron Sommer, Hamilton Dr. Andrew Thamboo, Vancouver Dr. Allan Vescan, Toronto Dr. Ian Witterick, Toronto Cost (+ HST) Full Program - $459 (max 28 registrants) Lectures Only - $100 consultant / $45 resident, fellow, medical student Introduction Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) can be challenging to manage, even in the hands of experienced
otolaryngologists. Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is generally reserved for medical management
failures and is tailored to the severity of disease. Recent advances in technique and an improved
understanding of the disease process have led to improved success rates for ESS. The aim of this
course is to teach basic to advanced techniques in ESS, including maxillary antrostomy, spheno-
ethmoidectomy, frontal recess dissection and septoplasty.
The session will consist of a half-day of lectures followed by a half-day of hands-on dissections.
Seven cadaveric heads as well as endoscopic surgical workstations will be provided, and the en-
rollment is open to a total of 28 Otolaryngologists, including practicing surgeons, advanced train-
ees and fellows.
Learning Objectives After attending this workshop, otolaryngologists will:
1. Review endoscopic and radiologic sino-nasal anatomy, as well as pathophysiologic
concepts of various common nasal diseases.
2. Become familiar with the management of sino-nasal pathology, including the latest
medical therapies as well as advanced ESS techniques, including the surgical steps of
each technique.
3. Be able to discuss the indications and contraindications of ESS techniques.
4. Become familiar with the instrumentation required.
5. Be able to discuss the postoperative management after ESS.
Frontal Sinus Masterclass Workshop Description (included for dissectors) Frontal sinus anatomy is highly variable and often complex. As a result, it is often challenging for
the sinus surgeon to master understanding of the frontal sinus.
The Frontal Sinus Master’s Class aims to help participants systematically review a variety of CT
scans, from simple to complex, in all 3 planes. After reviewing the CT, the participant uses the
building block method to determine the anatomy and drainage pathway of the frontal sinus.
Course Faculty works with the participants to make and evaluate their own 3D conceptualization
of the frontal sinus cells using tangible blocks, in a hands-on approach. The Course Faculty
checks and provides feedback to help the participant improve their 3D Conceptualization.
Participants then compare their own 3D interpretation of the CT scan with the intra-operative
video of the surgery performed on this patient, with stepwise removal of frontal sinus cells. The
comparison of the participant’s 3D Interpretation and the actual surgery re-enforces their ability
to use the triplanar CT images to create a 3D anatomical picture, and to formulate their own plan
for surgery.

Dissection Course in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery cont... The Course Faculty works with the participants to make and evaluate their own 3D conceptu-
alization of the frontal sinus cells using tangible blocks, in a hands-on approach. The Course
Faculty checks and provides feedback to help the participant improve their 3D Conceptualiza-
tion. Participants then compare their own 3D interpretation of the CT scan with the intra-
operative video of the surgery performed on this patient, with stepwise removal of frontal
sinus cells. The comparison of the participant’s 3D Interpretation and the actual surgery re-
enforces their ability to use the triplanar CT images to create a 3D anatomical picture, and to
formulate their own plan for surgery.
Learning Objectives • Review the nomenclature and common cellular configurations of frontoethmoidal cells
that are relevant to frontal sinus surgery.
• Practice reconstructing these 3D configurations using the building blocks technique and
understanding how this affects the frontal sinus drainage pathway.
• Develop a surgical plan for frontal recess dissection based on the elucidated frontoeth-
moidal cell anatomy.

Endoscopic ear surgery has a rapidly gained traction world-wide as a as a surgical
technique that has unique benefits. The basic surgical principles and instruments are
fundamentally similar between endoscopic and microscopic approaches to the ear,
but the endoscope allows visualization of ‘hidden’ structures thus facilitating a mini-
mally invasive operation with greater healthy tissue preservation. This course will aim
to familiarize the surgeon with the equipment, set up, and techniques needed to suc-
ceed with this surgical technique.
Learning Objectives • Develop an improved understanding of endoscopic ear anatomy

Otologic conditions are common in an otolaryngology practice but ear surgery has dramati-
cally decreased in volume in the general otolaryngology practice. This aim of this course is
to refresh common open otologic procedures for those in the community as well as enhance
what was taught during residency for the more junior surgeons.
A half day didactic course taught by some of the most experienced Canadian otologists will
compliment a half-day of hands on dissection on fresh frozen cadaveric heads. The partici-
pant will be given a hands-on opportunity to be guided through mastoidectomy approach-
es, middle ear procedures such as tympanoplasty and ossiculoplasty. Participants will also
be given the opportunity to attempt cochlear implant electrode insertions and bone con-
duction device placements.
Learning Objectives After attending this workshop, the participant will be able to -
• Perform a basic cortical mastoidectomy as well as understand common indications for
this procedure
• Elevate a simple tympanomeatal flap, inspect the ossicular chain and perform basic
tympanoplasty and ossiculoplasty techniques
• Understand indications for cochlear implants and bone conduction implants
• Be familiar with common otological instruments and handling of otologic drills.
