by European diseases (such as smallpox and measles)

Why?- Native Americans were geographically cut off from these diseases

- did not live in large cities or have contact w/ different people

Results: - Europeans encountered fewer Native Americans = less

resistance - Europeans took Native American territories with ease

and made it their own
