COUNTDOWN “Healing”
WELCOME & GREETING Rev. Fred Baum
*INVOCATION (Unison)
Maker, in whom we live, in whom we are and move,
Glory, power, and praise receive for your creating love.
Let all the angel throng give thanks to God on high,
While earth repeats the joyful song and it echoes to the sky.
*OPENING HYMN “My Hope Is Built” (1,2,4) No 368
*CONFESSION OF FAITH I Cor. 15:1-6 and Col. 1:15-20
Leader: This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and
by which we are saved:
People: Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day,
and appeared first to the women, then to Peter and the Twelve, and then
to many faithful witnesses.
We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, the firstborn of
all creation, the firstborn from the dead, in whom all things hold
together, in whom the fullness of God was pleased to dwell by the power
of the Spirit.
Christ is the head of the body, the church, and by the blood of the cross
reconciles all things to God. Amen.
NEW TESTAMENT LESSON Romans 8:28-39
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love
him, who have been called according to his purpose.
29 For those God foreknew he
also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30
And those he predestined, he also
called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who
can be against us? 32
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us
all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33
Who
will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who
justifies. 34
Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—
more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also
interceding for us. 35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or
hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36
As it is
written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who
loved us. 38
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39
neither height nor
depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of
God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PREPARATION FOR PRAYER No. 381
“Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us” (1,3)
PASTORAL PRAYER Rev. Fred C. Baum “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind,
be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Eph. 6:18
LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
PRAYER RESPONSE No. 381
“Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us” (Refrain)
OFFERING “Andante” (Johann Quantz) Marilyn Rutkowski “He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him
also give us everything else?” ~ Rom. 8:32
GOSPEL LESSON Matthew 13:31-33
31
He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard
seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32
Though it is the smallest of all
seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so
that the birds come and perch in its branches.” 33
He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast
that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all
through the dough.”
Leader: This is the word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God!

Vista 90 Plus Club Celebration!!!
Are you turning 90 this year? I would like to include you in the Vista 90 Plus Club celebration on 9/20/2020 at 10 AM. Please contact Delores Brindle at 530 907 5706
Starting this week, our Vista children and
youth will be returning to school. Most of
them will start online, but they are anxious
to return to their routine and friends
at school. Suzanne Ewing designed our
backpack Blessing Tag with Angels Wings
and verse. We also included 10 Bible
verse cards. It is a great way to carry God’s
word to school. It will also provide some help
when they need to feel comforted, brave, or
strong! Please pray for our children and youth.
