• Full pre-operational mode in summer 1999• first results are positive:

– CP accesses daily to risk maps

– significant correlation among risk level and N. of fires in a specific area

New developments:services for the L’Aquila Province (I)

• Geographic-based information services are provided, based upon a mix of space technologies (remote sensing, space geodesy)

• Information is shared among Province, Majorities and Mountain Communities and is possibly made available to public access

Observation of territory, especially devoted to risk entities

Monitoring of landslide-prone areas, based upon GPS

• Integration of satellite technology with GIS: Remote Sensing, Positioning, TLC

• easy to use, simple, standard products/services

• end-to-end demonstration projects with users

• EU role on legislation for environmental security and promotion of standards

• Future needs:– seamless vertical (thematic) and horizontal

(geographic) integration– DSS, what-if scenarios– higher speed of information transfer (through

high bandwith TLC) and processing
