Letter to Parishioners from Msgr. McAteer and Staff
Dear Parishioners of St. Ephrem,
As we enter the second month of the stay at home directive issued by the governor, we want to reach out to you again at this stressful time.
The priests, deacons and sisters of the parish are praying for you. Each day the three priests concelebrate Mass in the rectory at the dining room table. We pray for an end to the Covid-19 virus, for all the sick and dead, for healthcare workers and for all the families in our St. Ephrem community. Also the priests gather each day for the rosary, evening prayer and the Stations of the Cross on Fridays. We love you and have not forgotten about you.
Many of you have not forgotten about us, either. You have sent emails, cards and called on the phone. A good number of you have dropped off or mailed in your weekly donations, for which we are very, very grateful.
Since there are not any public masses at Saint Ephrem, we encourage you to pray at home and access Mass on the Internet. At this difficult time, one of the prayers that comes to mind is that written by Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) found written in the margin of her prayer book.
" Let nothing disturb you.
Let nothing affright you.
All things are passing.
God never changes.
Patience gains all things.
Who has God wants nothing.
God alone suffices."
We think the words "patience gains all things" is especially appropriate at this time. Also, there is a very inspirational video sent to one of the priests.
