THE MANDATE

FOR EVANGELISM

“Follow me and I will make you become fishers’ of man”.



Are we doing this assignment?



Billions in our world are lost without Jesus Christ.

What will you do to reach them?



220 people groups have no access to the gospel.

Almost 5,000 people groups have no church capable of starting other churches.



How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?

And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?

And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

And how can they preach unless they are sent?

As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news”

-Romans 10:14-15, NIV



My testimony

• I have been on an Leadership course in Mauii during February March 2004.

• My burning passion and decision is to get involved and to help ministries through applying leadership principles through God’s Word to make a difference in their strategies towards evangelising the world.

Moses struggled with his identity. He just didn’t feel qualified;

he thought God has picked the wrong leader.

Excuse One: Who am I? (Ex 3:11)

God’s response:It doesn’t matter who you are.

I am with you (Ex 3:12).



Excuse Two: Who are You? (Ex 3:13)

Moses felt a lack of intimacy. He didn’t know God well enough to

describe Him to the people and lacked convictions concerning his

relationship with God.



Current versus future reality

• Moses concentrate too much on current reality.

• Current reality is always changing.• The clearer our current reality and

vision, the clearer the gap between them.



We are picture-oriented• If our picture of current reality is

brighter and clearer than our picture of the goal we will stick with current reality.

• If current reality is stronger than the goal, we will after a little progress, return to current reality, and we will give up on the goal.



Excuse Two: Who are You? (Ex 3:13)

God’s response:I AM WHO I AM.

I AM ever present. I AM everything you need (Ex 3:14).



Excuse Three: What if they don’t listen (Ex 4:1)

Moses felt intimidated. He worried about the people’s

reaction to him.



Let’s look at the self talk of Moses

• Self-talk is simply the conversation that each of us is carrying on with ourselves all day long.

• It is estimated that about 50 000 thoughts go through our minds each day.

• Every thought about every experience is recorded.



Negative attitude

• We are not born with our attitudes; we acquire them.

• We acquire them from our own experience of life and learning and from the people round about us.



Affirmations

• There is a lot of negativity around us.• The negative self talk of others will

drag us back.• It is essential, therefore, that we

affirm vividly, with emotion.



Excuse Three: What if they don’t listen (Ex 4:1)

God’s response:When I’m finished, they’ll listen

(Ex 4: 2-9).



Excuse Four: I’ve never been a good speaker (Ex 4:10)

Moses fretted about his inadequacies.Who would listen to him if he

couldn’t even speak well?(Ex 4: 11,12).

Excuse Five: I know you can find someone else

(Ex 4:13)

Moses fell inferior: He compared himself to others-even

his brother- and decided that he came up short.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.

A tennis racket in Venus Williams' hands is a Championship Winner.




A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.

A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.




A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy.

A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.




Two fishes and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.

Two fishes and 5 loaves of bread in Jesus' hands will feed thousands.




Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.

Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will produce salvation for the entire world.




So put your desires, your tasks, your sub-goals, and your evangelistic goals in God's hands because …


As you see now it depends whose hands it's in.
