5 Simple Steps To Start Your

Day With A Bang

Michael Collins

Now I'll lay out for you five simple steps to start your day with a bang.

Do you feel sluggish when you wake up? Do you sit around in bed watching TV for half an hour before you even set foot on the ground?

Do you feel that waking up this way affects the rest of your day? I can tell you that it certainly does.

I'm sure you'll agree that how you wake up is an indicator of what the rest of the day will bring.

So here's what you do:

First- A great day actually starts the night before. About half an hour before you go to bed, pull out a piece of paper (a journal is even better) and write out your goals for the day.

Prioritize what you want to get done in order of importance.

Think about all the things you accomplished today and use that as motivation to get even more done tomorrow.

This is your success primer

Then, right before bed drink a small glass of water and put a pair of sneakers and light, loose clothing on a chair next to your bed.

Second- When that alarm goes off, roll out of bed. No hitting the snooze button, no laying there to "gather your thoughts" and no turning on the radio or TV.

These are simply excuses to sit around longer.

The problem with turning on TV or the radio is that they drag you in and you need completion. You know when they tease you with "coming up next after the commercial"? Now you've got to stay for another 3 or 4 minutes of commercials, THEN you watch that segment.

The bottom line is you've now laid in bed for an extra 15 or 20 minutes and killed your momentum.

Again, your job when the alarm rings is to get up!

Third- Head to the kitchen and drink a big glass of water. Fresh water and water alone. No coffee, soda or fruit juices. Just pure, fresh clean water.

I suggest getting a PUR or Brita water filter so you always have fresh water ready to go. Over night, your body has been digesting and metabolizing, repairing and regenerating and could use the fresh water to clear out the system.

Most of us don't get enough water through the day anyway, so you may as well get a head start.

Fourth- Brush your teeth and use the bathroom.

Self explanatory.

Fifth- This is going to depend on your fitness goals and what your current level of fitness is. If you're on a program, this is a good time to get it on.

If you're just starting out, have a small piece of fruit, take 5 minutes to read over your goals and priorities list from the night before and head out the door for a 20- 30 minute walk.

You can listen to music if you're in a busy part of town, or simply listen to nature if you live in an open area. Plan out your day in your mind and use the previous day's successes as motivation to be even better than yesterday.

When you get back from your walk, you'll be raring to go. Write

down any new thoughts and ideas you've had during the walk.

The water will have helped flush your system, the walk will get your
