Brief Introduction

Throughout recent years, Bolivia has had a growing scene for Mountain Biking that has yet a lot to explore, we have been in a non stop progressing discovery of the potential of trails and conditions that our country has to offer. However, it is the Andean Region of our country that stands out the most in terms of epic riding, historic heritage, favorable climate conditions and challenging terrain. The trails that surround Bolivian territories are so unique in every aspect (dirt, grip, terrain, views, history, altitude, variety, etc.) that throughout the past years professional racers have been coming to ride these trails from all over the world defining this biking destination as the ultimate off season all - mountain riding spot. It is crazy to think that the trails we ride on today have been built and used around 1400 years before bikes were even invented! These paths are considered to be the past links between one ancient culture to another making every bit of this trip a unique and authentic riding experience. Access and conditions around the Andes Mountain Range are favorable for riding most of the year round, yet the variety of trails is so immense in both terrain and technical degree, that these trails often push riders to the limit of their ability to adapt to fully new types of riding from one minute to the other. High altitude changes push riders to get in to a close-to Olympic physical shape condition, and the views and sceneries surrounding each riding scenario make the riding experience a surreal and breathtaking trip that will improve your riding to the highest limit.

The community builds the trails,maintainsthemanddesignsthem,itislikenootherbikeparkyouwilleverrideinyourlife,amixbetweensteepandflowysingletracksandjumps,allmadebythe community makes this place a multi line, multi trail, multi culturalexperience.After lotsrunsdownthebikeparktrails,wehaveaquickpicnic inthemiddleofthemountainsbeforestartingtheÑuñumañanitrail,atrailthathasalittlebitofeverything,fromflowyswitchbackstorockysections,younameit!TheviewoftheAndesmountainrangeissoclose inthisridethatyoufeelyoucanalmostreachoutandtouchthe6.000meterhighsnowcoveredmountains.

We hop back into the car and head out to the Hotel. Dinner, bike fixing andcheckingoutphotosandfootageoftherideswillcomeintohandaswellasgoodnightrest.Day3–Achocalla,Ayma-UrbanAssault.Another amazing day after breakfast, starting off early we head out to thesouthern part of the City to ride the “The Moon Trails”; very particular anduniquehighaltitudedesert trails thatareonly found in thevicinitiesof theLaPazValleys.StartingwiththeAchocallaTrail,afunshorttrail,afewrunspastwewillhaveagoodfeelofwhatitsliketoberidinginthehighaltitudedesert“moonsoil”ofLaPaz.AfterthiswehoponthetransportationandheadtotheclosebytrailofAyma,Oneofthemostuniquetrailsyouwillrideinyourlife!Anamazinghighaltitudedesertridethatwillbeinthebackofyourmindasoneofthemostfunandchallengingtrailsever.Afterthiswehopbackonourtransportationstogo grabour lunch in anice restaurant, typical of the southernpart of the city.AfterLunchwegrabourgearandheadtotheGondolaCentral,wehopontotheFamous Urban Gondola System of La Paz, that takes you climbing above allacrossthecityasifwewereheadedstraightthetopoftheworldtoarrivetothenorthernmosthighestpartof thecityofElAlto.Onceregroupedupat the lastGondolaStation,wetacklethelongesturbandownhillroutesofthecitythroughthe most unique alleys and stair-sets you will ever ride in your life. A neatwelcometothecityofLaPazinStyle!Thisistheworld’slongesturbandownhillrunintheworld!EndingthisamazingridewithashorttransferbacktothehoteloncewehitthelowestpartoftheCity.

Day4LomaLoma–ElEden.Day4and5aresomethemostepicdaysofridinginourtour.WetakeyoutotheamazingtownofSorata.TheMeccaofFreeride/EnduroinBolivia.Onewordto

describe these trails is SPECTACULAR! We take off early from our hotel ataround6:00AMtohoponthetransportationforatwoandahalfourdrivetothePassofSorataataltitudeof4.500metersabovesea levelandridetheamazingLoma-Loma trail, as itsnamedescribes “loma”means ridgehill in Spanish,wehop on themost amazingly beautiful and long ridge ride next to themajesticIllampuMountain(6.368Mts).The views of this trail are amazing and the demanding trail makes for abreathtaking ride all theway down to the town Colonial town of Sorata at analtitudeof2.700metersabovesealevel.Wehavelunchinthemainsquareofthefriendly and warm town, and after setting up all the gear and luggage in thebeautifulecoresorthotelAltaiOasisweheadout foronemoreridebeforethedayends.Thebeautiful“Eden”trailislocatedrightaboveSorata.Anamazingpreinca trail thathasendless flowandhighspeeds throughnativeAndean forestsandoutstandingviews,allthewaybacktotown.Aftercleaningupandrestingabit, we settle in for a surreal dinner in the middle of the subtropical AndeanValleys(Dinnerisincludedthisday)aheartymealwillbeneededaftersuchanepicdayofridingandtoprepareforwhat’snext.

Day5ChuchuTrail–ElEdenII-TransferBackToLaPaz.Wewake up for onemore day of amazing riding, we get ready and leave thehotelearlyinthemorningforatwohourdrivetothetopoftheChuchuPassat4.700metersabovesea level tostartourwaydownanamazingride.TheepicChuchu trail is home to event “Jach’a Avalancha” (which from its words inAymaranativelanguagemeans“thegreatavalanche”)EnduroMass-Startraceforthelast10years.Anamazingtrail35kilometerslongwithanaltitudedropof2.000meters! From amajestic pass down to 500meter long scree slopes andamazing raw switchbacks through the Andean forests to an altitude of 2.700

meters!Byfaroneofthemostamazingtrailsyouwilleverride,thisisindeedBigMountainEnduroatitsbest.Agoodtwo-hourandahalfridedownthebacksideoftheAndesmountainrangeonabike issomethingoutofthisworld!ASuperfunandchallengingtrailtoaddtoyourbooks.Wehavelunchaftermakingourwaydownofthetrail.Packeverythingupandheaddriveback towards el Eden riding site for onemore epic ridedownPre-IncagravesitesandendlessgrassprairiestosayourlastgoodbyetotheamazingtrailsofSorata.Weregroupatthemainsquareafterthisride,andheadbacktoLaPazinathree-hourdrive.ThenightcanbetakentohaveavisitoftheBoliviannightlifeandtorestoffforwhat’stocomenextday.Day6IllimaniTrailsandValledeLasAnimas.Thisdayisdefinitelyoneofthemaincoursedishesofourprogram,theIllimanitrailisbyfaroneofthemostflowytrailswehaveinthevicinitiesofLaPaz.Anamazing1000meterdescentthroughthemostamazingridges,playfulgroundsandbeautifulvillages!Weintendtohitthistrailtwiceearlyinthemorningtogetagoodfeelingatthetrail.Thenhaveanamazingpicnicwiththeincredibleviewof the Illimani Peak, before diving deep into the Animas Valley for a halfsightseeinghalfawesomebombingdownthisamazinggeologicalsite.Wepedalandpushourbikesforabit,nowthatwearewellacclimatizedforthealtitude!Rightbefore standingon topof the amazingAnimasValley ready tomakeourwaydown!TheAnimasValleyistheworld’slargestgeologicaltowerformationintheworldand it isoneofLaPaz’smostuniquedestinations.Howaboutridingyourbikethroughthisamazingplace?Endlesspeaksandalleysofjustrawandchallengingterrainmakeforthistrailanunforgettableexperience.

Afterthisheftydayofriding,weheadbacktothehotelfornextday’sjourney!Day7FlighttoUyuni–TrainCemetery,UyuniBikeRiding,SaltIslandsandThunupa/SaltHotel.Day7startsearly tohead to theairport,whereyouwewill takeouronehourflighttotheUyuniSaltFlats!VisitingUyuniisaonceinalifetimeexperienceanda“mustdo”whileyouareinBolivia.AtyourarrivaltotheUyuniAirport,ourguideandtourexpertwillbewaitingforyoutoregroupandhoponourtransportations.We head straight out to visit the amazing train cemetery that holds all of thehistoryfromthemineralglamorousdaysofBoliviabackintheearly1900’sAfterthiswevisitthetownofColchanianditssurrounding,beforeheadingouttotheworld’slargestSaltFlats.Weloosehorizonexploringanddrivingacrossthissite.Oncedeepinthesaltflats,wehoponbicycles(HardTails)toridealittlebitoftheUyuniSaltFlatsonabike!AMAZING!Then,totheIncaHuasiandPescadoIslandsforlunchandanamazingvisitatthehugecactusplantsthatgrowinthisverystrangeandpeculiarenvironment.AfterLunchwedrivetowardsthenorthernpartoftheSalardeUyuni,tovisitthesitesinwhichtheStarWarsMoviewasfilmed,visitthemagictownofCoquezaandthefootstepsoftheThunupaColoredVolcano.

Wehead back to the townof Colchani and check in to our amazing SaltHotel(yes,youreadthatright,everythingismadeofsalt)andhaveapleasantdinnerinoneofthemostamazingplacesinBolivia.Afterdinner,wegoout foronemoreamazingexperienceandwedive into thesaltflatsagaintowatchthemostamazingnightskyandconstellationsightyouwill ever imagine. The darkness and magic of this place, combined with thealtitudeofthesalt flatsmakesforasitethatwill takeyoubreathawayinyourreachforthestars!Day8Uyuni–MinorLagoonsandDeserts.WeheadouttocrosstheentireextensionoftheUyuniSaltFlatsoncemore, tovisitthevolcanicareaofitssurrounding,amazinglagoonsandAndeanwildlifetobee seen aswe head towards the Siloli Desert.
