1.1.2 a 2-digit number from a 2-digit number.

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

o Use 10 straws tied together to represent tens.

o Use several single straws to represent ones.

o Example: 23 – 5

Step 1: Place the digits in the correct house.

Step 2: Regroup tens into ones. (Borrow 1 tens into ones)

Step 3: Solve the question.

1.1.2 Subtract a 2-digit number from a 2-digit number.

Demonstrate subtraction using place value and regrouping:

o Use 10 straws tied together to represent tens.

Step 1: Place the digits in the correct house.

Step 2: Regroup tens into ones. (Borrow 1 tens into ones)

Step 3: Solve the question.
